KADER SYLLA DROPS PACIFIC NORTHWEST AND ALPACAS PART

Kader Sylla's new video part is called Pacific Northwest and Alpacas, and it is now streaming on YouTube, filmed by Tristan Warren for adidas Skateboarding. The caption announcing it ran two lines. The footage is doing the talking instead, and the region is not a new one for the brand. adidas Skateboarding sent Dennis Busenitz, Jake Donnelly, Mark Suciu and Alec Majerus through Vancouver, Portland and Seattle for a Pacific Northwest video back in 2013, more than a decade before Sylla's version of the trip.

Sylla Signed With Adidas In April 2021

Sylla, who skates under the handle laterkader and grew up in Studio City, California, joined adidas Skateboarding's team in April 2021. The brand gave him a signature shoe less than five years later, the Kader Sylla x adidas Skateboarding Superstar ADV, which released March 5 in black tumbled leather with metallic gold accenting, his signature stamped on the insole and his name debossed on the side.

A signature shoe before thirty is rare in skateboarding, where most riders spend a decade on team product before a brand puts their name on the tongue. Sylla got there faster than the team's own Glenburn push to Lisbon needed, a four rider trip built around one shoe rather than one rider's name on it.

The Video Was Not His Closest Call This Year

The closer call happened months earlier at adidas headquarters in Germany, where Sylla boardslid a twenty four stair handrail and came off the end heading straight for CEO Bjorn Gulden. Gulden had waxed the rail himself before the run and stood his ground as the board skimmed past him, laughing it off in front of the crowd that had gathered to watch.

Pacific Northwest and Alpacas is the quieter follow up, a rider proving the part that got him signed still holds up without a boardroom nearby. adidas Skateboarding has now put out two team edits in as many days, Kento Yoshioka's Samba ADV JP part on September 22 and Sylla's the day after, a release pace that says more about the brand's video budget this month than any single trick in either part. Neither part needed a product tie in to justify the runtime, which is the newer house style: adidas Skateboarding is putting out footage on its own terms now, shoes optional.
