HARDIES REBUILDS THE ADISTAR CONTROL 5 IN AURORA RUBY

The adidas Hardies Adistar Control 5 in Aurora Ruby, Maroon and Dusky Ink went on sale October 3, 2026, at the Hardies site, select skate shops and adidas.com. Hardies Hardware, the skate label co founded by Tyshawn Jones, built it on an archival running shoe from the 2000s.

Aurora Ruby Mesh, Dusky Ink Trim

The Aurora Ruby colorway uses a mesh base layered with glossy and matte synthetic panels. Maroon and Dusky Ink accents, contrasting laces and a ribbed textile heel finish the upper.

Rhinestone studded stripes take the place of the standard three stripes, the signature Hardies puts on its adidas shoes. Underfoot sit adPRENE+ cushioning, the Torsion System and Formation X, the running technology the Adistar line carried in the 2000s. Photographer matthewyoscary shot the launch images, which adidas Skateboarding used to present the shoe as the next step in the adidas x Hardies partnership.

It is a different job from the brand's Superstar ADV in Cardboard, which rebuilds a 1969 court shoe for skating. The Adistar Control 5 starts from a runner instead.

Style Code HQ5289 Went on Sale October 3

The Adistar Control 5 Hardies Aurora Ruby is style code HQ5289 and retails for $130. adidas Skateboarding confirmed a worldwide launch for October 3 a day earlier.

A second Hardies version of the shoe was shown the same day, built with ripstop canvas, a synthetic patent leather upper and rhinestone embellished stripes. Both are sold through the Hardies site, select skate shops and adidas.com.

The release lands days after the Tyshawn Apparel Collection reached skate shops and adidas.com/Tyshawn.
