Key Points

The adidas Kader, Kader Sylla's first signature silhouette, went on sale at skate shops on October 16, and it is built on a 1990s adidas Equipment basketball shoe instead of the Superstar that carried his name in 2022. Within a year of joining adidas Skateboarding he had a Superstar colorway; it took until now for the shoe itself to be his.

March 2022 to October 2026

Sylla joined adidas Skateboarding in April 2021, and the Superstar ADV by Kader Sylla followed on March 5, 2022 in black tumbled leather with gold lettering and his signature on the insole. That was a colorway of a shoe that has existed since 1969, and the follow ups stayed in that lane: a dark purple Superstar ADV, then a Samba ADV in brown suede and black leather with orange, white and green stitching for the flag of Côte d'Ivoire, where his family is from.

The Kader changes the arrangement. It is the first adidas model designed around him, and it arrived 24 days after his Pacific Northwest and Alpacas part went up on September 22, and after a Sneaker News announcement on September 29 that called it his first signature skate shoe. Part, announcement, tour, release: four beats in a little under a month, sequenced like a record rollout.

Equipment Basketball Roots Under a Mid Top Skate Build

The Kader is a mid top that reworks an archival adidas Equipment basketball model from the 1990s, per Sneaker News and Men's Journal. The Three Stripes run into the lacing system, and the side panels form a capital E on each shoe, with an extra material accent at each end. Sole Retriever lists suede and leather across the toebox, side panels and heel.

Two colorways are out or on the way. The launch pair is Core Black, Collegiate Purple and Gold Metallic, style code KI0408, with purple suede on the lace loops and stitching. The second, in brown suede with a black leather backing and yellow snakeskin on the lace loops and tongue logo, follows later, though outlets describe it differently and Modern Notoriety lists it under style code LA7670. The shoe is listed at $110 in the United States.

The brief came from Sylla. On the Coffee Time Kicks podcast with Mike Guillory he described wanting a slightly pointier toe for flicking, a split toe of the kind skate shoes rarely carry now, and a shoe he could jump down a 20 stair in and still feel fine the next day. Whether every item survived into the final shoe is unconfirmed, and no outlet has published a verified spec comparison.

Five Cities in 15 Days

adidas Skateboarding ran Part I of the Kader World Tour from October 3 to 17 across five shops and skateparks: Minneapolis on October 3 with Familia, Des Moines on October 6 with Subsect, Kansas City on October 7 with Escapist, Denver on October 11 with 303 Boards and Denver Skatepark, and Los Angeles on October 17. The shoe landed on October 16, between the Denver and Los Angeles stops, with adidas Skateboarding telling customers it was at skate shops worldwide.

Skate shops first has been the 2026 pattern. The Superstar ADV in Cardboard and Gold went out the same way in late September, and the Kader goes further: Sneaker News reports an early launch event in Los Angeles for the purple pair and expects a wider drop through adidas.com and retailers in 2027.

The countdown was short and plain. adidas Skateboarding announced October 16 on October 13, repeated it on October 14 and 15, and from the day itself said the shoe was at skate shops worldwide. The rest of the line kept moving around it: the Adistar Control 5 with Hardies went on sale October 3, the day the tour opened in Minneapolis, the Samba ADV in Shadow Red, White and Maroon followed on October 5, and Gonz apparel and the Tyshawn shoe came on October 6 and 7.

Eleven Months to a Colorway, Five and a Half Years to a Model

The comparison that matters is time. Sylla signed in April 2021, got a colorway in March 2022, and gets a model in October 2026, five years and six months after joining.

Temperature read: early. One of two colorways is in shops, sources put the brown pair later in 2026, and Sneaker News expects the wide release in 2027. The shoe that took Sylla 24 days from video part to shelf took five and a half years to exist.
