ADIDAS SKATEBOARDING SENDS FOUR TO LISBON FOR GLENBURN

adidas Originals is rolling out a Jennie capsule built on the Superstar this week. adidas Skateboarding, the same week, posted something much smaller. Tim Debauché landing a backside Smith in Lisbon, shot for the Glenburn, the brand's newest skate shoe. Same company. Same season. Two silhouettes that both trace back to the same 1980s football terraces, built for audiences that will probably never cross paths.

That is the actual story here, and it has nothing to do with likes. adidas has spent 2026 running one shoe philosophy across two completely different worlds, and the skate side just got its highest profile push yet, four riders, one Lisbon trip, and a shoe with a Thrasher collaboration already behind it.

Backside Smith, One Instagram Post, Four Names

Tim Debauché landed a backside Smith in Lisbon for adidas Skateboarding's newest Glenburn colorway. He shared the trip with Jarrad Carlin, Lau Willems and Lilli Werner, all four credited in a single post that pointed back to Glenburn, with Jarrad, Lau, Lilli and Tim, the video that has lived on adidas Skateboarding's YouTube channel since July 3, 2026, under the title Postcard from Lisbon.

The four are not a random casting call. Debauché is French, from Anglet on the Basque coast, and the third generation of his family in French skate media. His father Bruno Debauché helped popularize skateboarding on French television in the late 1990s, and his brother Matt is one of the more technical ledge skaters out of southwest France. Carlin grew up in Mount Maunganui, New Zealand, moved through Melbourne and now rides out of London for the crew Thames and the Slam City Skates team. Willems, 29, from Ghent, Belgium, released a new part called L.A.U. in March after a public break from skating. Werner rides for adidas alongside Arrow and Beast and Thunder Trucks, and dropped her own solo part, LILLI, in 2024. The post credited photographer semrubio and filmer d_serr poobert by name, the kind of detail most brands leave out.

The Glenburn Just Picked Up a Thrasher Colorway

The Glenburn is not a one off. It debuted in February 2026 as adidas Skateboarding's newest signature silhouette, built with a dual layered suede front panel, a breathable nylon rear quarter and a plimsoll style outsole meant for board feel, priced at $75. adidas has explicitly framed the design as terrace culture translated into a skate shoe.

By June 1, the shoe had already earned a Thrasher x AFA collaboration, the Core Black colorway, priced at $85. In July, adidas ran a dedicated Glenburn tour through the UK. The Lisbon trip with Debauché, Carlin, Willems and Werner is not the shoe's introduction. It is the third or fourth wave of a rollout that started five months ago and has not slowed down, the same week adidas Originals is launching a Jennie capsule built on the Superstar, a different team, a different shoe, the same house.

Riley Hawk Joined the Team in January

Riley Hawk officially joined adidas Skateboarding in January 2026, closing out a 13 year professional career on a new team. He landed alongside Mark Gonzales, the rider adidas Skateboarding built its whole program around when it launched in 1998, plus Dennis Busenitz, Tyshawn Jones, Lucas Puig and Nora Vasconcellos.

That matters here because it is the same roster infrastructure now backing Glenburn. A team that just added a signing with a 13 year resume is not treating a European shoe trip as filler content. It is the same machine that put a shoe through a signature colorway, a magazine collaboration and a country wide tour in five months, still adding names to the front of the house.

One Shoe Family, Two Completely Different Audiences

The Samba, adidas's oldest surviving sneaker, started life in 1950 as Adi Dassler's football boot, built for grip on frozen pitches around the era of the 1950 World Cup. By the 1980s, fans at English clubs like Manchester United and West Ham had adopted low profile, thin soled adidas trainers as matchday wear, a look that earned the label terrace culture. Skaters picked up the same silhouettes in the 1990s and 2000s, drawn to soles built low to the ground. adidas Skateboarding still names that lineage directly when it talks about the Glenburn, and the same silhouette language runs through adidas's Vans era comparisons in streetwear right now, where skate construction keeps resurfacing on runways nowhere near a skatepark.

Which brings the story back to Jennie. Her Superstar capsule carries the same terrace and court DNA as the Glenburn, aimed at a completely different customer in a completely different aisle. One adidas team is selling a skate shoe through a backside Smith in Lisbon. Another is selling the same design language through a K pop star. Neither one is the copy of the other. They are both descendants of the same 1950 football boot.

Call the Glenburn early but not small. A $75 to $85 price band and one European tour is not a Yeezy scale rollout yet, but a Thrasher collaboration, a UK tour and a Riley Hawk signing inside five months is the infrastructure adidas built around the Samba before it became a mainstream staple. The next real test is whether Debauché's backside Smith becomes the shoe's defining image or just one Tuesday post in a much longer campaign.
