JACQUEMUS KEEPS THE MULTI BLUE MOON SHOE MIAMI ONLY

Jacquemus's new Nike Moon Shoe Multi Blue exists in exactly one place for four days: a boutique at 157 NE 40th Street in the Miami Design District. The store opened this week, and Jacquemus is using the sneaker as the reason to walk in before the shoe reaches jacquemus.com on September 21 at 4pm Paris time.

Simon Porte Jacquemus built the exclusivity into the launch on purpose. He is not selling a colorway. He is staffing a shoe salon around one pair and testing whether a Miami zip code can pull the crowd that usually lines up for a Paris flagship.

Sky Blue Nylon Meets an Emerald Swoosh

The Multi Blue upper is crinkled nylon dyed sky blue, with matching suede panels wrapped around the eyelets and toe box. Nike swapped the usual leather Swoosh for one cut from ostrich textured leather in emerald green, sitting above a gum rubber outsole that traces back to Bill Bowerman's 1972 waffle iron prototype. Bowerman poured liquid rubber into his wife's waffle iron to build the first Moon Shoe sole. Fifty four years later, that waffle pattern sits under crinkled nylon that costs more per pair than the whole batch he made for the 1972 Olympic trials.

The suede overlays are new to this colorway. Every prior Moon Shoe release from Jacquemus used a smooth leather trim instead. Sky blue and suede together read closer to a ski boot than a running shoe, which fits a store built for a South Florida winter that never gets cold enough to need one.

Jacquemus and Nike started reworking the Moon Shoe together in 2022, and Multi Blue is the pair's most restrained upper yet. Earlier colorways leaned on pastel nylon alone. Adding suede raises the unit cost without raising the retail price, which is the kind of detail a construction reviewer notices and a retail buyer usually hides.

157 NE 40th Street Sits Between Louboutin and Dior

Jacquemus placed its Miami flagship directly between Louboutin and Dior on 40th Street, across from Tiffany and Co. The two story, 270 square meter space was designed with the architecture firm OMA, and it holds artwork by Picasso, Miro, Cocteau and Dufy alongside a dedicated shoe salon and a private VIP room set up as a winter garden, furnished with 1950s Mathieu Matégot garden chairs.

"I wanted to create a space that feels both very Miami and very Jacquemus," Simon Porte Jacquemus told WWD. "I wanted the store to feel minimal and warm, with beautiful materials, handmade details and objects and design pieces that I personally selected."

Nike Has Given This Collab Six Colorways Since February

Nike and Jacquemus have now released six Moon Shoe colorways since February. Pale Pink, Medium Brown and White launched February 24. Solange Knowles fronted the March 9 campaign for the next batch. Soft Pearl, Fauna Brown and Aluminum Pink followed on March 14, Nike gave the shoe a European general release at 100 euros in April, and Alysa Liu wore the collaboration in a March campaign built around her Olympic double gold.

Multi Blue breaks that run. It is the first Moon Shoe colorway Jacquemus has held for a single store before letting the wider release catch up, and the four day gap turns a shoe drop into a store opening. Solange Knowles and Alysa Liu both fronted campaigns for a shoe anyone with 180 dollars and an internet connection could already buy. This colorway makes a Design District zip code the price of getting it first.

The Multi Blue Moon Shoe costs 180 dollars, the price Jacquemus and Nike have charged for every colorway since the collaboration began. That number matters next to the 250 dollars Jacquemus charged for its Lagoon Blue boat shoe with Timberland in July. The Moon Shoe stays the accessible entry point into the partnership even while the store around it sells handpicked art and 1950s furniture.

Skip the trip if Miami is not already on the calendar this week. The shoe reaches jacquemus.com on September 21 at 4pm Paris time, and nothing about the construction changes between the boutique run and the online drop. The suede and the ostrich textured Swoosh justify the price on their own, waffle outsole included, without needing the store around them to close the sale. Buy it in person only if walking through a Picasso lined shoe salon is worth more to you than four extra days.
