Graham and Skepta Carry Stone Island Denim

Stephen Graham wears two coach jackets in Stone Island's Autumn Winter 2026 campaign, and the newer one, the 4100006 Laser Pigment Indigo Denim, is the piece that pairs him with Skepta inside Denim Research. Twenty four days separate it from his first appearance, so the second jacket tells you more about the season than the first.

24 Days Between the Ghost and the Denim

Graham's first Community as a Form of Research appearance came on September 16, in a behind the scenes frame by Heikki Kaski. He wore the 0100004 Bonded Rubberised Leather Ghost, a lambskin coach jacket with a sprayed finish. The 4100006 is the same cut in a different material: a coach jacket in 13.5oz denim woven from indigo dyed yarn in a twill structure, with multiple pockets and a front snap closure.

Stone Island's product copy says the denim is stone washed, sprayed by hand with coloured pigments and lasered with an irregular pattern, which is why each piece comes out different. The Denim Research press release adds that a second wash shows the contrast between lasered and unlasered areas. Seven Names, One Photographer, 100 Questions

The chapter presented on September 2 lists Fakemink, Skepta, 3House, Stephen Graham, Samir Bantal, Monika Sprüth and Jia Zhangke, with more portraits promised through the season. David Sims shoots them against a white background, Max Pearmain styles them and Ferdinando Verderi directs. Hans Ulrich Obrist curates the questions, and each subject answers a few of Stone Island's 100.

The compass badge on every sleeve is the constant. The Stone Island badge meaning goes back to the wind rose on founder Massimo Osti's wooden sailboat, adopted in 1982, and it snaps on with two buttons so it can come off. Everything else in the cast changes, starting with the fabric.

Fakemink Wears Resin, 3House Wears Paint, Bantal Wears Down

Five of the seven portraits now have a garment traced in detail, and no two share a finish. Fakemink's Q100027 Slick Nylon Tela TC gets its glossy surface from resin brushed on by hand after garment dyeing and then heat pressed. 3House wears the Q100031 Hand Painted David Light TC parka, garment dyed under pressure at 130 degrees Celsius before the paint goes on. Bantal, the director of AMO, wears the 4100062 David TC Ghost, a short down parka.

Skepta, like Graham, wears two garments. His 4100035 Dense Oxford Nylon TC rebuilds a cotton shirting weave in heavy nylon with PrimaLoft TC insulation that is 70 percent recycled. His second piece is the 4100002 Hand Sprayed Reflective Light Bull Denim TC, a 13oz jacket woven in a 3/1 twill, laminated with a film of glass microspheres and sprayed by hand, with a detachable down vest.

Four Washes, Three Treatments, Two Faces

Denim Research for Fall Winter 2026 comes in four washes, medium blue, light blue, grey and black, and three treatments: Laser Pigment, Corroded Reflective and Hand Sprayed Reflective. The line was relaunched for Fall Winter 2025, and the press push for this season runs through exactly two faces. Skepta carries Hand Sprayed Reflective, which adds a film. Graham carries Laser Pigment, which adds nothing to the surface and removes colour with light.

That split is why the denim pair matters more than the Ghost. Skepta's jacket is 13oz and Graham's is 13.5oz, half an ounce heavier, and the two treatments pull the same indigo in opposite directions. One is built up in layers, the other is burned back.

The line reached the floor at Dover Street Market New York on October 1, 2026, while the online shop listed it as coming soon. A reference point for the technique sits in London: the Collector Series at Selfridges, which runs September 21 to November 6, put a Spring Summer 2006 Denim Badge piece on the rail for its third week, October 5 to 11, next to a 2012 reflective field jacket.

"A Willow" Is Question 58

Graham's page carries his answers to Stone Island's questions. Asked Question 58, "Do you find it easy to embrace change?", he said, "I try and be like a willow and bend with change, not be like an oak tree all the time." On Question 32, the most remote place he has visited, he named an icebreaker heading towards the North Pole for three and a half weeks. On Question 52, whether he has experimented with making clothes, he said they drew shop fronts and designed a label, a tracksuit and a pair of trainers at school, and that he has never done it.

Graham won the BAFTA for Best Leading Actor in May 2026 for Adolescence, which also earned him two Emmys and a Golden Globe. His two jackets give him a direct answer to his own question. The cut stays the same and the surface changes twice, first lambskin sprayed to look rubberised, then denim sprayed, lasered and washed again. Skepta answered the same Question 32 with the Maldives, an island he says he walked around in seven minutes with deck chairs, a portable speaker and snacks. Two cast members, two denim treatments, two very different remote places: the campaign is built from pairs like that, and Graham's 4100006 is the other half of Skepta's 4100002.
