Stone Island's Reflective Field Jacket Reaches Selfridges

Stone Island's Liquid Reflective Field Jacket is at the Selfridges Corner Shop this week, part of the Holsales selection for Week 3 of The Collector Series, October 5 to 11, 2026. The jacket is from Spring Summer 2012, article code 561541330, and every one is sprayed by hand, so no two match.

Glass Microspheres, Sprayed One Jacket at a Time

The Liquid Reflective fabric carries a coating made of thousands of glass microspheres, which is what makes it highly reflective. Each finished garment is individually hand sprayed and then individually oven dried, and the drippings and ticking effects that result make every piece unique and unrepeatable.

The coating also makes the fabric water and wind resistant. The nylon hood folds away in a raised collar edged with nylon tape.

This is a coated fabric, not a printed one. The spray is the finish, so the refraction and the colour intensity change from jacket to jacket.

Denim Badge, Spring Summer 2006, Hangs Alongside It

Holsales is also showing the Denim Badge piece from Spring Summer 2006, article code 4415M004. It is cut from fine Japanese micro twill sanded denim and carries an indigo coloured canvas Stone Island badge, with a pocket in reflective fabric.

The two pieces sit six years apart and use reflective fabric differently. The Field Jacket is coated across the whole garment, while the denim keeps it to a single pocket.

Week 3 Comes After 'bout

Holsales is one of the independent curators running the Selfridges Corner Shop through the series, which started September 21 with a new curator each week. Week 3 follows the selection from Tokyo vintage store Seiya Amano's 'bout, which was available through September 27.
