ITALY EQT TRACK TOP ADDS A STAR TO AN OLD CREST

Italy EQT Track Top puts four gold stars above an old federation badge. On the green, navy, white and red Adidas jacket, the extra star makes the archive impossible to freeze in its original decade. Italy gets a familiar football silhouette with a medal count brought forward.

The jacket hangs from a wooden hanger in the campaign photograph, zipped to its high collar. No player, match or stadium supplies the occasion. Adidas has made the garment itself carry Italy's football history, down to the small tricolour square near the hem.

Four stars change the badge's date

FIGC says the revived crest combines its stylised letter i and the Italian tricolour with a fourth star commemorating the 2006 World Cup win in Germany. That update means the badge deliberately joins two moments in the national team's history.

A collector can read an old crest as a date stamp. Adidas interrupts that reading here. The shape points backwards while the star count insists that Italy's later title stays on the chest. Calling the jacket a straight replica would miss the most consequential edit on it.

There is a useful contrast in the 1994 denim jersey Adidas revived for the United States. That return kept the famous stars and denim appearance without a US federation badge. The Italy jacket puts the federation's identity at its centre. Two football reissues can therefore offer very different pieces of the original visual language.

For a supporter, that difference is legible before a fabric label comes into view. Italy's crest identifies the team, the stars record its wins, and the surrounding EQT panels sell the era.

Recycled polyamide supplies the shell

Adidas lists the Italy EQT Track Top, product code KG2595, with a plain weave shell made entirely from recycled polyamide. The lining and inserts are recycled polyester, and the jacket has a loose fit, full zip and high collar.

Those specifications give the archive treatment a contemporary material base. The visible green and navy blocks belong to a woven outer layer, while the collar carries a Trefoil beside the Adidas wordmark. White and red panels make the Italian colour reference more conspicuous than a small flag would on its own.

Adidas Italy lists the jacket at €100. That is the price of the standalone top; matching trousers are a separate garment. Buyers looking for the photographed silhouette should check KG2595 rather than assume every navy Italy jacket in the shop uses this badge or cut.

The materials also set a useful limit on the nostalgia. Adidas is selling a new recycled fabric garment in an archive composition. Neither the campaign photograph nor the product specification establishes that this top reproduces the feel, weight or construction of an original jacket.

EQT stretches beyond the national team

FIGC's collection announcement places the track top alongside track pants, a crewneck and oversized jerseys in navy and off white. The jacket is part of a coordinated wardrobe rather than an isolated commemorative badge exercise.

That wider wardrobe helps explain the loose fit. A zip jacket can sit over the collection's other layers, and a matching trouser carries the colour arrangement below the crest. The football reference survives even when the wearer chooses only one component.

Adidas already has a familiar route from football equipment to everyday dress in the Samba's football origins. EQT clothing makes a different kind of transfer. A shoe can lose its sporting context through repeated daily use; four stars and an Italy crest continue to declare allegiance.

The track top therefore asks for more commitment than a neutral retro trainer. Even on the wooden hanger, before anybody styles it, the badge has chosen a side.

Keep the federation mark in view

FIGC identifies Adidas channels, its own store and authorised retailers as outlets for the EQT collection. The federation's involvement is a firmer point of provenance than a seller describing any old panelled jacket as Italian football vintage.

The broader appetite for this period also appears in the Stone Island football collection, which draws on 1990s terrace culture. Italy EQT gives that historical reference a specific national emblem rather than leaving football as a general styling mood.

The strongest detail on KG2595 is still the adjustment above the crest. A recycled polyamide shell makes the jacket new to wear. The fourth star makes its version of the past knowingly incomplete without 2006.
