YUTO HORIGOME FINDS DEVIN BOOKER INSIDE VAULT 7

Yuto Horigome lifts the lid off a shoebox that has sat untouched inside Nike SB's Vault 7 for years. Dust rises off the cardboard. He breathes it in, and the room around him stops behaving like a room.

That single gesture is the entire premise of Vault 7, the seventh chapter of Nike SB's Sail Box Era archive on NikeSB.com. Horigome and fellow rider Ishod Wair fall through a desert, a subway car and a mountain valley ringed by goats wearing the faces of skate legends, all built around the release of Horigome's own debut Nike SB Air Force 1.

Colin Read Directs Horigome's Vault 7 Trip

Colin Read directed Vault 7 under his mandibleclaw credit, with Rob Russell shooting it and Linework Projects producing the film. Nemo Design, Bodega Virtual, Nick Rondeau, Cabin Edit and Soko Creations fill out the rest of the crew Nike SB names on the release.

Linework Projects builds its whole business on action sports, a production house that spends most of its year following surfers, climbers and skaters rather than shooting straight advertising. That background shows in how much time Vault 7 spends on mood and set design before a single trick appears on screen.

Skate culture is getting a loud week regardless of who holds the camera. Supreme and Keen spent this Fall Winter 2026 season building a skateable half pipe out of Baltic birch, proof that brands have stopped treating a ramp as a prop. Nike SB answers with a film crew usually reserved for a full length skate video, not a single shoe drop.

A Suns Guard Turns Up in the Desert

Devin Booker greets Horigome in the desert once the dust takes hold, a Phoenix Suns guard who has never turned a trick in his life standing inside a skate brand's fever dream. The scene then warps Horigome onto a subway car to meet Hiroshi Fujiwara before dropping him into a mountain valley where Eric Koston, Elissa Steamer and Paul Rodriguez appear as goats.

Ishod Wair rides beside Horigome through the opening sequence and stays in frame long enough to open the shoebox with him, a small credit that matters because Wair rarely shares a lead role in a Nike SB film that is not his own.

The goat joke only lands for a viewer who already knows all three names, an inside reference aimed at an audience Nike SB clearly wants to widen. Verdy put his name on four different brands in six weeks this fall. Nike SB borrows that cross industry appetite by casting an NBA starter next to three skate lifers.

Verdy Signed Horigome's Heel Before This Film

Verdy designed the crest on Horigome's Nike SB Dunk Low well before Vault 7 went into production, embroidering feathers on the heel and tongue as a tribute to Ojima Komatsugawa Park in Tokyo, the park where Horigome learned to skate as a child. That shoe's cherry blossom insoles already told a hometown story the Air Force 1 does not repeat, because Vault 7 tells it on film instead.

Horigome's Iron Grey Air Force 1 reached skate shops on September 12 at 125 dollars, three days ahead of its wider SNKRS release. He remains the only skateboarder with two Olympic gold medals, winning street in Tokyo in 2021 and defending it in Paris in 2024, on top of a 2018 season in which he became the first Japanese skater to win a Street League event and then took the SLS title outright.

Horigome later beat Nyjah Huston in Rome to win the World Skateboarding Championship, a resume most brands would headline with a highlight reel instead of a fever dream about a shoebox. Vault 7 is the first Nike SB film willing to treat that resume as the plot instead of a footnote. Underrated, until the next rider gets a trip this strange.
