STONE ISLAND FILMS HARDCORE'S SIX MONTH ATLANTIC CROSSING

Isaac Lamb spent more than six months on tour vans and venue floors across two continents, camera in hand, chasing a story that started years before he ever showed up with a lens. His new film for Stone Island, THE CALM AND THE CHAOS, follows the hardcore scene's transatlantic bloodline: a friendship between Justice Tripp of Trapped Under Ice and Angel Du$t and Graham Sayle of the English band High Vis.

That friendship is the spine. Lamb's camera then follows it forward into a younger generation, Knocked Loose guitarist Isaac Hale and Haywire617's Austin Sparkman, to show a scene passing its values down rather than repeating a trend.

Graham Sayle Wrote His Own Narration

Graham Sayle did not hand his own story to a copywriter. The High Vis frontman wrote and speaks the film's voiceover himself, a choice that matters because Sayle has spent years in interviews describing hardcore's current boom, and how the scene helped him process grief and talk openly about suicide awareness. That is the voice Stone Island put on the soundtrack instead of a narrator reading marketing copy.

Arco Maher handled styling and Isaac Lamb both shot and directed, credits the brand ran in full rather than folding into a single "creative team" line. Denim Tears took a similar approach this month, naming its entire FW26 season for Andre Leon Talley instead of a generic collection number, the same instinct to put a real name on the work rather than a house credit.

This Is Stone Island's Second Hardcore Chapter

This is not Stone Island's first pass at hardcore. The brand's fall and winter 2025 Community as a Form of Research campaign put Knocked Loose guitarist Isaac Hale in a Ripstop Light HT Nylon jacket, following Liam Gallagher and Peggy Gou through the same campaign series, and it marked the first time Stone Island leaned directly into America's hardcore and screamo scene. THE CALM AND THE CHAOS is the second chapter, not a standalone stunt, and it widens the cast from one guitarist to four bands.

Knocked Loose itself carries its own receipts. The Oldham County, Kentucky band signed to Pure Noise Records and released You Won't Go Before You're Supposed To in 2024, an album that topped the UK's Hard Rock and Metal chart, the kind of chart placement that gives a brand more to point to than a follower count.

Six Months, Two Continents, One Tour Book

Lamb's six months on the road produced more than a video. The material becomes a tour book carrying the same title, THE CALM AND THE CHAOS, due in September 2027, which means Stone Island is committing to this story more than a year past the film's release rather than letting it disappear after a single posting cycle.

The project sits under Stone Island Sound, the platform the brand built around the mantra Sound as a Form of Research. The platform started as a record label in 2020 before growing into curated festivals and streaming playlists, and the hardcore documentary is its furthest reach yet into a single scene's inner circle rather than a broad genre survey. Fred Again and Latin Mafia made a similar bet on longevity this year, stretching nine months of studio time into a fifty hour mixtape rather than a one song rollout, the same logic that turns raw footage into an artifact people keep instead of scroll past.

Forget the Genre Tag. High Vis Blends Four of Them.

High Vis formed in London in 2016 out of members from other hardcore bands and built a sound that blends the genre with post punk, indie rock, and baggy influences rather than staying inside one lane. That range is likely why Stone Island paired Sayle with Tripp as the film's anchors: neither band sounds like a hardcore stereotype, and both have spent a decade proving the scene can hold more than one shape.

Six Months Cost More Than a Logo Ever Would

A logo collaboration would have been cheaper and faster than six months of touring, a tour book, and a narration track Sayle wrote himself. Stone Island chose the harder version anyway, betting that a decade of real friendship between Tripp, Sayle, Hale, and Sparkman reads as more credible than another capsule drop. Knocked Loose's chart topping 2024 album and Hale's Ripstop jacket already prove the audience is there, and a tour book landing in September 2027 means Stone Island is not walking away once the film stops streaming. This looks less like a campaign and more like Stone Island building a hardcore beat it plans to keep covering the way it built Stone Island Sound itself, one season at a time instead of one post.
