CARPET COMPANY'S FIFTH DROP 2 PIECE IS OVERWASHED DENIM

Overwash is not a single rinse. It is a second pass through the machine after the first wash has already broken the indigo down, the step that turns a stiff new jacket into something that looks like it has survived a season already. Carpet Company is putting that treatment on a pinstripe denim work jacket for Season 22 Drop 2, available in the Station North store August 15 and online at Carpetco.us August 16.

The thesis is simple. Carpet Company keeps proving Season 22 has more chapters than a typical streetwear rollout, and this jacket is the one built to actually be worn hard rather than photographed once.

Overwash Means More Than One Rinse Cycle

A single wash softens denim and knocks the sheen off raw indigo, but it leaves the fabric close to its original tone. Overwashing repeats the cycle, usually with enzymes or a second mechanical pass, pulling more dye out of the yarn each time until the blue sits duller and the hand feels closer to a jacket that has already been through a dozen washes at home. Pinstripe denim complicates that process because the white or contrast thread in the stripe has to survive the same abrasion as the indigo ground without bleeding or fraying at the selvedge. A work jacket cut from it needs the stripe legible after the wash, not softened into a blur, which is the harder version of the finish Carpet Company is choosing here over a simple stone wash or a rinse.

Season 22 Drop 2 Already Has Four Chapters

This is the fifth piece Carpet Company has folded into Season 22 Drop 2 since the drop opened July 23. First came the 16 ounce waxed canvas work jacket and ringer varsity tee, then Iron Ankh football jerseys on July 27, then a double sided Iron Ankh umbrella on July 30 that marked the graphic's first placement outside clothing. Four releases in eleven days is a pace closer to a contemporary label dripping out a lookbook than a skate brand restocking decks, and the overwashed jacket keeps that cadence intact heading into the middle of August.

This Is Not the Brand's First Pinstripe

Carpet Company has used pinstripe fabric before, on a pair of baggy work pants the brand marketed with carny vibes copy on its own site, so the stripe is a returning idea rather than a new one borrowed for this drop. Ayman and Osama Abdeldayem started the label from their parents' basement in Laurel, Maryland, and built it into a company that now runs a full seasonal calendar out of a Station North storefront the brothers opened this spring. Baltimore's other major cultural export this decade is Turnstile, and Carpet Company's own history includes a collaboration tied to the band, the same DIY instinct showing up in hardcore and streetwear two blocks apart. Compare that history to how Carhartt WIP hand finishes a destroy wash across its own Fall Winter 2026 chore coats. Both brands are chasing a worn in look through deliberate finishing rather than letting a customer's own wear do the work, but Carhartt is doing it on a heritage silhouette while Carpet Company is doing it inside a rollout that has not repeated a garment yet.

August 16 Online, After the Line at Station North Clears

In store August 15, online August 16, Carpet Company is running the same release order it has used all season, storefront first, Carpetco.us the next morning. Drop 2 has followed that pattern since the Iron Ankh umbrella confirmed it on July 30, and whatever sells through Station North first will set the size run left online. Recent Carpet Company work jackets from prior seasons have priced between 158 and 198 dollars depending on treatment, and an overwash finish on pinstripe denim, a harder fabric to process than the 16 ounce waxed canvas that opened this drop, sits at the upper end of that range on construction alone. Five pieces into Drop 2 and Carpet Company still has not repeated a silhouette. The jacket is the one worth watching past the carousel, because overwash is the only finish in this drop that gets better the more it is actually worn.
