PUMA MB.06 SHOOTING STAR PUTS PURPLE ON THE COURT

Puma MB.06 Shooting Star puts LaMelo Ball's latest basketball shoe in deep purple, with the September 25 campaign bringing the camera close to his feet on a wooden court. The colour is loud enough to sell the image, but the shoe's more useful detail sits inside it: a drop in midsole supported by reinforced sidewalls. That construction deserves attention before the cosmic name does.

Puma's three photographs move between Ball, the shoes and the floor. The dark backdrop keeps the purple upper legible, while the closer view makes the outsole part of the presentation. This is a basketball launch with a fashion ready colour treatment, still asking to be considered as court equipment.

Shooting Star Reaches Puma's September Calendar

Puma lists the MB.06 Shooting Star for September 25 in Dark Amethyst and Lavender Alert, under style 313624_01. The US product page prices the adult shoe at $130.

The release follows the MB.06 Puerto Rico edition, whose July launch gave the model a geographically specific introduction. Shooting Star gives the line another distinct colour identity without asking the campaign to explain a new signature model from scratch.

Purple covers enough of the photographed shoe that the shape remains readable without a contrasting panel doing all the work. On Ball's feet, the broad base is visible below the upper. That relationship matters more to the silhouette than a star motif added to a tongue or box.

Sidewalls Frame the Drop In Midsole

Puma describes a drop in midsole and TPU reinforcement along the MB.06's sides, with a rubber outsole intended for basketball traction. The listed upper combines synthetic and textile materials, including recycled content in the upper construction.

Those specifications identify what to examine during a try on; the campaign does not establish how the shoe will feel on every player's foot. Heel hold, lateral containment and room across the forefoot still need to work together when the wearer changes direction.

Basketball has also supplied the clothing and footwear language for PDF and Champion's Street Ballerz. Puma keeps the focus tighter here, using Ball and one purple pair to carry the release. Shooting Star's colour earns a look, but the drop in midsole and reinforced sides are the reasons to take that look onto a court.
