YouTube is #75 on the FO Pulse (2026-07-15 close), up 9 from the previous close.

Finally Offline attended the Skullcandy Crusher 1080 ANC launch at Capitale in New York on July 15, 2026. The Crusher 1080 ANC is the first headphone to pair Skullcandy's patented dual driver Crusher bass with a full suite of Sound by Bose technologies, including QuietControl adaptive noise cancellation, TrueSpatial audio with head tracking, WaveForm Audio Engine, and SpeechClarity. It offers up to 60 hours of battery life, costs $279.99, and is available in black, candy, primer, and cement colorways. The launch event featured Skullcandy CEO Brian Garofalow, skateboarder Nora Vasconcellos, and DJ sets from DJ_Dave and musclecars. This is the first edition of Field Report, Finally Offline's original live event coverage vertical.

Key Points

This is Field Report, Finally Offline's on the ground coverage. When a company launches something in a room, we are in the room, and we file from it. Report 001 comes from Capitale in New York City, where Skullcandy debuted the Crusher 1080 ANC on Tuesday night.

The short version: Skullcandy took the Crusher, the headphone franchise built on bass you physically feel, and became the first brand to run a full suite of Sound by Bose technologies inside it. The Crusher 1080 ANC costs $279.99 and is available now on skullcandy.com and at retail in four colorways, black, candy, primer, and cement. We shot the lineup on the mixing console, the field footage is on our Instagram, and the full report is on our YouTube.

The Room at Capitale

Skullcandy did not launch this one with a spec sheet over email. Brand partners, creators, and tech and lifestyle media got the first look in person on July 15, with Skullcandy CEO Brian Garofalow on stage alongside professional skateboarder Nora Vasconcellos, and live DJ sets from DJ_Dave and musclecars carrying the night. The setting made the argument for the product. Crusher has always been pitched as the closest thing to standing front row, so Skullcandy built a front row and put the headphone in it. "The DJ set the tone all night," Savvy says in the report. "Food, drinks, the whole room was moving." We made our own totes at the customization station, got hands on with the headphones, and Skullcandy sent us home with a pair.

Bass You Feel, Processing You Do Not

Crusher earned its fan base with a simple idea: music should be felt, not just heard. A dedicated dual driver system creates a subwoofer effect you can dial from subtle low end to bone rattling, using the on board Crusher wheel or the app. The 1080 ANC pairs that platform, for the first time, with the premium Bose stack: QuietControl six mic adaptive noise cancellation, TrueSpatial audio with head tracking, the WaveForm Audio Engine keeping the mix clean while the bass hits, and SpeechClarity for calls. Garofalow's framing from the stage was direct. Skullcandy pushed the boundaries of bass, Bose brought its best processing, and the two set out to make the combination affordable. Nick Smith, president of Bose Audio Technology, called it the first time Bose has integrated this set of technologies with a partner.

The Spec That Matters Is the Price

The headline numbers hold up. Up to 60 hours of battery with ANC off, 50 with it on, a ten minute charge that buys four hours, multipoint pairing, and a flat folding design with a roll top travel bag. But the number the room kept coming back to was $279.99. A full Bose processing suite has historically lived on headphones well north of that, and Skullcandy's entire play here is delivering premium sound at a price its audience can actually reach. That is the same instinct that made the original Crusher a fan favorite instead of a spec sheet curiosity.

Why This Is Field Report 001

Finally Offline covers the space between tech and culture, and this launch sits exactly there: a heritage bass brand, a legacy audio giant, a skater on stage, and DJs translating the spec sheet into a set. Field Report is our owned format for nights like this, the same way Better in Person is our owned format for the question of who people are online versus in the room. When the next launch happens in a room, we will be in it.

Transcript

Savvy: What's up guys, it's Savvy from Finally Offline. Today we got the invite from Skullcandy to get a first look at the new Crusher headphones, hosted at Capitale on the Lower East Side. The DJ set the tone all night. Food, drinks, the whole room was moving. Made our own totes at the customization station and then finally got a chance to look at the Crusher headphones. With a once in a lifetime opportunity like this, you know I had to throw in human nature. And they sent us home with a pair. Appreciate the invite, Candy.
