A live string section played inside a glass house at the Fondation Louis Vuitton on January 20, 2026, while four songs nobody had heard before filled the room. Pharrell Williams built the set with the Japanese firm NOT A HOTEL and named the furniture inside it HOMEWORK. Weeks later, Louis Vuitton did something it rarely does. Models moved through the furnished interior before stepping onto a garden runway outside, reversing the usual order where the walk ends a story instead of starting one.

The making of video released weeks after the show frames that same house differently, as a set built for a camera crew as much as for the guests seated inside it. Outside the glass, the palette ran tan, deep green and khaki, with double breasted suits and crocodile leather bomber jackets carrying the collection's more classic register.

The Score Was Cut Inside Louis Vuitton's Own Studio

Pharrell Williams produced the FW26 soundtrack at a Louis Vuitton recording studio rather than licensing existing tracks, and the show premiered four songs nobody had streamed before. A$AP Rocky, John Legend and Quavo each debuted new material, backed by a live orchestra and dancers moving through the DROPHAUS interior.

This is where Pharrell's other job shows up inside his fashion job. He built his name as one half of the Neptunes, producing records for Jay Z, Nelly and Britney Spears long before Louis Vuitton called him about menswear. Treating a runway score like an album release, complete with a documented studio session for the cameras, is a producer's habit applied to a creative director's calendar.

Jackson Wang and Pusha T Had Never Recorded Together Before This Runway

Sex God, featuring Pusha T, marked the first collaboration between Pharrell and Jackson Wang, and it debuted live at the FW26 show rather than on streaming platforms first. The track sat inside a collection Louis Vuitton split into three tiers, Timeless Business, Modern Tailoring and Evening, each built for a different hour of the same wardrobe.

The clothes underneath that soundtrack leaned harder into material than most seasons. Aluminum structured shirts, rare vicuña wool and mink turned up alongside micro patterned jacquards, pinstripes built from miniature LV Flowers and tone on tone Monogram weaves too fine to read from four feet away. None of that is retro. It is tailoring using techniques a 1986 workshop simply did not have.

Pharrell Called This Collection Classic. The Fabric Argues Otherwise.

Louis Vuitton's own FW26 materials list leans on aluminum weave shirting and reflective thread jacquard, technical fabrics with no real precedent in the archives Pharrell says he is referencing. The past meets the future line from the campaign caption is not filler copy. It describes a wardrobe where a vicuña overcoat and a metallic engineered shirt hang on the same rack.

Louis Vuitton also engineered Silk Tech for this same season, a twill blended from 51 percent silk and 49 percent reclaimed nylon that resists creasing and water. That fabric, not any mood board reference, is where the innovation half of the equation actually lives. A Silk Tech city bag can reportedly carry fifty kilograms without failing at the seams.

The making of video, not any single garment, is the artifact worth judging here, because it is Pharrell's clearest public argument yet for what continuity at Louis Vuitton looks like after Virgil Abloh. He was named men's creative director on February 14, 2023, and three years later he is producing the score, casting the dancers and building the house himself, then handing the footage to YouTube before the reviews even post.
