Key Points

Thickman's Tavern is the new sports bar from the team behind Community Goods, the Beverly Grove coffee shop known for a matcha line down the block. It belongs to Pedro Cavaliere, one of the owners of Community Goods, and it sits at 432 N Fairfax Ave in the space that used to be No Name Bar.

The Matcha Team Built a Sports Bar

The Infatuation framed the move simply. Community Goods can get people out of bed at 9am for matcha lattes, and the same owners are now going after the Sunday football crowd. Thickman's is built for game day, with team flags on the walls, TVs everywhere and an illuminated bar.

Guinness, Wings and a Thick Burger

The bar pours Guinness, yuzu margaritas and grapefruit Negronis. The kitchen sticks to classic bar food, with lemon pepper wings, onion rings and a signature thick burger.

The tavern's Instagram, @thickmanstavern, goes by Thiccies. It had about 2,200 followers and had not posted yet when we checked.

Pedro Cavaliere and Community Goods

Community Goods opened on Edinburgh Avenue in February 2023 and added a second location inside the Pacific Design Center on Melrose. By March 2024 its square logo cups had shown up in thousands of Instagram and TikTok posts, and the Los Angeles Times reported that some of its regulars first heard about it through Justin and Hailey Bieber.

Cavaliere, a Brazilian immigrant, once worked as a personal assistant to a musician and as a tour DJ for Rihanna. He told the Times he credits a decade of favors banked with influential people for the cafe's early success, since it opened with no marketing or publicity budget.

Thickman's takes that same crowd to Fairfax Avenue, at 432 N Fairfax Ave in the old No Name Bar space.
