## The Credits That Made History Diplo officially became the first DJ to perform on all seven continents in 2023 with his December 13 set in Antarctica. The performance took place on the helipad of a ship in the Southern Ocean off the coast of Antarctica, part of a six-day Antarctic cruise organized by Insider Expeditions on the Atlas Ocean Voyages World Voyager. Tickets started at $15,999 USD for the luxury expedition. The rollout was environmental activism disguised as a bucket list achievement. All funds raised from the event are dedicated to Oceana, the world's largest international advocacy organization focused solely on ocean conservation. ## The Music The producer shared the full 90-minute performance on YouTube, with the video using multiple cameras to capture the vast ocean and epic snow-covered landscapes. The DJ curated a set featuring tracks by artists like Four Tet, Glass Animals, RÜFÜS DU SOL, Zerb, MØ, Flume, and more. The tracklist opened with ODESZA's "Thin Floors & Tall Ceilings (ID Remix)" and included Diplo's own collaborations with Joeski, Rhye, and Moojo. No speakers were used & no wildlife were disturbed during the filming. After being on hold for a few hours for weather, they got the go-ahead to perform on the helipad of the boat and made it a priority to focus on 3 things: the set, the music, and the landscape. Diplo called it one of his favorite sets he's ever posted to YouTube. ## The System The expedition was presented in partnership with Insider Expeditions and intended to raise both funds and awareness for ocean conservation. Secular Sabbath, based in Los Angeles, is a collective centered around ambient music and sensory experiences, focusing on the therapeutic potential of ambient music and its psychological effects on human well-being. Diplo and his crew worked closely with the International Association of Antarctica Tour Operators (IAATO) to ensure that the livestream capture was done in a safe and environmentally responsible manner. Current World Voyager Antarctica cruises start from USD 16,499 for double occupancy rates on 11-day round-trip crossings. The livestream, directed by Cambron Lyles, is raising funds for Oceana, the world's largest international advocacy organization dedicated solely to ocean conservation. ## What Comes Next This was not a publicity stunt.
