PORSCHE 959 SPORT #001 SURFACES IN A HIDDEN BANGKOK FLEET

200 miles. That is the entire lifetime odometer reading on chassis number 001 of the Porsche 959 Sport, the most extreme production version of the car that started the modern supercar arms race in 1986. It still wears its factory build sheet sticker. It has spent the last 15 years inside a private warehouse in Bangkok that almost nobody has photographed, next to a matching set of cars most collectors will never stand beside once.

Type7, working with local contact Khun Mike and photographer yipyeets, spent an afternoon inside a collection that has stayed out of sight in Thailand for two decades. The story is not the wealth on display. It is the specificity of what got preserved and why a handful of the rarest Porsches built in the last 40 years ended up parked together in one room.

Chassis 001 Has Traveled 200 Miles in Fifteen Years

Porsche built 292 examples of the 959 between 1986 and 1988, and only 29 of those carried the Sport specification, a lighter, harder edged version with bigger turbos and none of the Komfort model's ride height adjustment or extra insulation. Chassis 001, the very first Sport built, is the car parked at the center of this Bangkok collection.

The current owner bought it more than 15 years ago out of the United Kingdom, and the car has not moved much since. A lifetime total just over 200 miles means this 959 Sport has covered less distance than most owners drive in a single weekend, and the original build sheet sticker is still affixed inside, the kind of detail that gets peeled off and lost on cars that actually get driven. Being first off the line and barely driven is a combination almost no other 959 can claim.

The 993 GT2 Ended the Air Cooled Era at 450 Horsepower

Porsche closed out the air cooled 911 generation with the 993 GT2, a 3.6 liter twin turbocharged widebody built in just 194 examples between 1995 and 1998. Power started at 430 hp and rose to 450 for the final 1998 cars, the exact specification parked beside chassis 001 in Bangkok. No traction control, no all wheel drive, a factory widebody wider than any 993 that came before it.

Finally Offline traced the 996 GT2's widowmaker reputation back to the 930 Turbo earlier this summer, a car that inherited its character from exactly this chassis. The 993 GT2 sitting in this collection is the version that reputation actually started on, the last GT2 built before Porsche moved the entire 911 range to water cooling in 1998.

A Martini Liveried 918 Spyder Sits With Cloth Buckets

Type7 counted a special specification 918 Spyder finished in Martini Livery with cloth bucket seats among the rest of the collection, the Weissach Package combination that pairs a factory applied motorsport wrap with the lightest interior Porsche offered on its hybrid hypercar. Parked around it were a 1974 Carrera RS 3.0 previously owned by the collective 25G, a Carrera CS with a full burgundy cloth interior, and a pair of Carrera RS models including a Clubsport originally delivered new to the Netherlands.

It is the second time this summer that Type7's cameras have found a serious Porsche collection inside Bangkok. In April, collector Chanond Ruangkritya commissioned a Sonderwunsch 992 S/T finished in heritage Signal Orange as a tribute project. This collection has apparently been parked minutes away the entire time, out of every lens for 20 years until Khun Mike and iceliizer opened the door.

Brunei's Sultan Once Owned This Tiptronic Speedster

According to the collection's own account, a 964 Speedster inside this warehouse is one of only two built worldwide with a Tiptronic automatic gearbox, a transmission almost nobody ordered on a car meant to be driven with the top down and both hands on a manual shifter. Records cited by the collection say it was delivered new to the Sultan of Brunei before eventually finding its way to Bangkok, alongside a Rubystone red 964 Carrera RS in the same corner of the room.

A 964 Turbo 3.3 surfaced with 66,000 original kilometers in July and made news specifically because it had actually been used. This Speedster represents the opposite instinct, a car bought to be looked at rather than driven, sitting alongside a 997 GT2RS, a 991 GT2RS, two 911Rs, and a brand new 992 S/T, Dakar, and Touring that round out one of the most complete single owner Porsche collections currently documented anywhere.

The instinct to lock away a barely driven original rather than run it into the ground is the same logic that keeps deadstock sneakers in boxes and vintage band shirts off hangers. Car collecting at this level runs on the identical currency: originality outranks use, and a sticker nobody peeled off is worth more than a full tank of gas. Between a 29 unit 959 Sport, a 194 unit 993 GT2, and a Tiptronic Speedster that may be one of two in existence, this warehouse holds more genuine Porsche rarity per square foot than most museums manage with ten times the space.
