Our Legacy is #322 on the FO Pulse (2026-10-11 close), down 13 from the previous close.

Our Legacy opened a Shanghai store designed by Cristopher Nying and Profan, with a museum shop on the first floor and an ongoing construction site on the second. It is open Monday to Sunday, 11.00 to 20.00, in a Spanish style villa with concrete, steel, fibreglass and recycled wood.

Key Points

Our Legacy has opened its Shanghai store with a museum shop on the first floor and an ongoing construction site on the second. Cristopher Nying designed the space together with long term partner Profan, and it is open Monday to Sunday, 11.00 to 20.00.

Reuse runs through the Stockholm label's 2026: scrap wool inside coat linings, a reclaimed gym floor in London, and now recycled wood and reworked furniture in Shanghai. Photographer Robert Nilsson shot the new store.

A Spanish Style Villa Gets Concrete and Steel

The Shanghai store sits in a Spanish style villa whose homely feel is disrupted by industrial elements. Concrete, steel, fibreglass, mirrors, recycled wood, container walls and reworked furniture give the space a brutalist quality.

Each floor sets its own mood. The first floor draws on the atmosphere of a museum shop, and the second floor on an ongoing construction site. Our Legacy describes the effect as "a sense of constant motion", which fits a building where the ground floor behaves like a gallery and the floor above looks unfinished on purpose.

Shanghai Started as a Kiosk Inside Maison Dongliang

Our Legacy did not arrive in the city with its own store. A WWD report roughly two years ago described a retail kiosk inside the multibrand store Maison Dongliang and slow pop ups at SKP S, and quoted the label's chief executive saying the brand eventually wanted its own stores but that building them was capital intensive and complex in a new market.

Dongliang itself moved up in 2024, when it opened a flagship in the WYSH complex on Wuyi Road with exclusive collaborations from brands including Our Legacy. The label's own Shanghai address now replaces borrowed shelf space with a floor plan Nying drew with Profan.

Profan's Third Our Legacy Room Since July

Profan, the Stockholm studio Our Legacy calls its long term partner, has now designed three of the label's spaces since July. Our Legacy's Soho flagship at 1 and 2 Silver Place, first opened in 2014, reopened on July 16 with reclaimed gym hall wood flooring, concrete, stainless steel furniture and silk curtains by Akane Moriyama.

The Ginza move followed in August, when the label relocated and expanded its Dover Street Market Ginza store to the building's second floor. A year before either, Profan designed the interior of the Shibuya PARCO shop in shop, which opened on June 13, 2025.

London reads warm because, as co founder Jockum Hallin described it, the neighborhood's Victorian warmth meets the label's industrial interior identity. Shanghai pushes the other direction: the villa's domestic feel is what gets interrupted, and the container walls and fibreglass do the interrupting. Both rooms share concrete and steel, but only one of them was built to look like work is still happening.

Twelve Years From Silver Place to Shanghai

Our Legacy's run of stores outside Sweden now stretches from London in 2014 to Shanghai in 2026. The Soho shop at Silver Place was reported at its 2014 opening as the label's first store outside Sweden, and the label opened its first Seoul store in 2022.

Tokyo came in two steps. The Shibuya PARCO shop in shop arrived in June 2025, and the Dover Street Market Ginza floor moved and grew in August 2026. Since the Shibuya shop, the label has reopened Soho, moved Ginza and opened Shanghai, each time with Profan on the drawings and with concrete and steel in the material list.

London and Ginza were reworked addresses, while the Shanghai store takes a Spanish style villa and gives each floor its own mood, a museum shop below and a site still being built above.

Recycled Wood Echoes a Coat Lining

The materials list matters because the label has been saying the same thing in fabric. Our Legacy hid recycled scrap wool insulation inside its Fall Winter 2026 coat linings, where nobody sees it, and the Shanghai floor plan puts recycled wood and reworked furniture in plain view. Reuse is quiet in the clothes and loud in the rooms.

Nying is the label's creative director, which makes him the author of both the Fall Winter 2026 Just Clothes collection and this building, with Profan alongside him on the rooms.

Practical details are short. The store is open every day of the week, Monday to Sunday, from 11.00 to 20.00, and the announcement closed with a single word: "Welcome".
