OUR LEGACY'S SOHO FLOOR IS RECLAIMED GYM HALL WOOD

Our Legacy's new Soho flagship runs across two connected storefronts at 1 and 2 Silver Place, first opened in 2014 and now reopened in a newly renovated and expanded space. The brand built it with Profan, its longtime Stockholm architectural partner, and the floor underneath the new interior is reclaimed gym hall wood. Store hours are set at Monday through Saturday from 11am to 7pm and Sunday from noon to 6pm, and the space is photographed for its reopening by mikaelolsson_. This is a build story before it is a reopening story.

The New Floor Is Reclaimed Gym Hall Wood

Profan, the Stockholm agency founded by Anton Bogardh, Disa Braunerhielm and Maximilian Olsson, laid reclaimed gym hall wood as flooring throughout the expanded Silver Place space. Recycled sprung flooring built for a gym absorbs impact differently than standard hardwood, since it is designed to flex under repeated foot contact rather than sit rigid, and that same give changes how sound moves through a retail floor. Against the store's concrete walls and stainless steel furniture, the reclaimed wood adds reverb rather than dampening it, an acoustic choice as much as a material one. Reusing sports flooring instead of milling new hardwood also means the store is standing on wood that already has a use history the day it opens, not a blank material waiting to acquire one. Gym floors are typically maple or birch, laid in narrow strips over a sprung subframe so a falling player does not take the full impact, and that same subframe logic is why the boards can be lifted whole and relaid somewhere else instead of being scrapped when a gym closes.

Profan Has Built Our Legacy's Spaces For Years

Profan is Our Legacy's longtime architectural collaborator, the studio the brand keeps returning to rather than rotating between firms for each new location. That continuity shows in the choices at 1 and 2 Silver Place: futura lighting fixtures and silk curtains by artist Akane Moriyama sit inside a shell that keeps the concrete and steel vocabulary Profan has used across the brand's other stores. JW Anderson pulled a similarly durable furniture partner into Kilburn for its own heritage collaboration, oak carved by the Mouseman workshop since 1919, the same logic of picking one maker and staying with them rather than treating fit out as disposable.

Victorian Warmth Meets Stainless Steel Furniture

Our Legacy co founder Jockum Hallin described the renovation as bringing together the Victorian warmth typical of the Soho neighborhood with what he called the industrial chills of the brand's interior identity. That is a literal material mix, not a mood board line. Georgian and Victorian Soho buildings carry ornate cornicing and brick facades from the outside, while the inside of 1 and 2 Silver Place runs concrete, stainless steel furniture and reclaimed gym flooring, the same industrial materials Our Legacy has used in its Stockholm and Paris locations. Keeping the exterior period detail intact while gutting the interior to Profan's usual material list is how the store reads as both a Soho building and an Our Legacy space at the same time. Silver Place is a short, narrow street of Georgian and Victorian fronted buildings, the kind of address that has housed independent retail and small workshop space rather than a flagship megastore, which is part of why a brand built on remade menswear staples chose it twice, first in 2014 and again for this expansion.

This Reopening Already Has A Different FO Angle On Record

Finally Offline's earlier coverage of this reopening focused on the July 17 opening date and a new series of night photographs by Rut Blees Luxemburg, the Tate collected photographer who shoots exclusively on a 4x5 film camera under ambient street light. This piece is a different post from the same reopening, credited to photographer mikaelolsson_ rather than Luxemburg, and it points at the build itself, the reclaimed flooring, the architect, and Hallin's own description of the interior, rather than the exhibition program layered on top of it. Our Legacy first opened at this address in 2014, and 1 and 2 Silver Place is now a bigger, rebuilt version of that same footprint rather than a new location entirely. The reclaimed gym flooring and the Profan partnership are the actual news here, since the reopening date already ran. A visitor walking in during the posted hours, Monday through Saturday from 11am to 7pm or Sunday from noon to 6pm, is standing on flooring that has already absorbed a different kind of impact once before.
