Key Points

The Kakomi Ceramic Pot, made by Carhartt WIP with Japanese brand KINTO, went on sale in Europe on October 3, 2026 at Carhartt WIP stores and online. It arrives four days after the label's heavily stone washed camo feather tree print, so the newest thing Carhartt WIP is selling after a run of deliberately faded fabric is a 2,500 ml ceramic pot rated for direct flame, microwave and oven. KINTO already sells a Kakomi pot of almost exactly that size, which makes the interesting question what Carhartt WIP adds to it.

KINTO Already Sells a 2.5L Kakomi Without the Logo

KINTO Europe lists its standard Kakomi ceramic pot in 2.5L at €165 in white or black, and sells stainless steel steam plates as separate products at €32 for 180mm and €38 for 230mm. The Carhartt WIP version holds 2,500 ml and measures 27.5 by 14.5 by 31.5 cm, within about 2 percent of the 11.0 by 5.8 by 12.6 inch listing on KINTO's US page for the 2.5L pot.

Carhartt WIP's US page adds a Black / Grey colorway with a graphic print and a stainless steel steam plate that comes with the pot. The Italian retailer Urban Star Roma lists the pot at €225 with the Carhartt logo on top, and calls the insert iron where Carhartt WIP says stainless steel. That €60 gap sets one retailer against KINTO's own store, so it is a rough read of the premium and not a measured markup.

Carhartt WIP's Copy Skips the Induction Warning

KINTO's US page for the standard 2.5L pot says "Do not use on induction cooktops." Carhartt WIP's journal page lists direct flame, microwave and oven use and does not mention induction at all. The same KINTO page lists the pot as made in Japan and the lid as made in Malaysia.

KINTO's other care rules for the standard pot are specific. Never heat it without water, never use it for stir fry or deep fry cooking, and take the lid off in an oven because a rapid rise in temperature may cause breakage. Carhartt WIP's pages do not say whether those limits carry over to its version. A buyer on an induction hob has a KINTO answer already, the enamel IH Kakomi line, which KINTO Europe lists at €115 for 1L and €170 for 2L.

Fumie Shibata Designed the Kakomi Not to Look Traditional

The Kakomi was designed by Fumie Shibata, product designer and representative of Design Studio S, whose credits include Muji's Body Fitting Sofa and the 9h capsule hotel. In a designer message KINTO published on January 31, 2025, she said she chose not to make something that looks traditional and gave the lid a flat surface for a sleek, modern look. Her stated hope for the line: "Through KAKOMI, I hope to encourage people to enjoy pot dishes more casually."

Carhartt WIP's journal copy starts from the other end. It calls clay pots a long standing part of everyday cooking in Japan, a ritual that connects generations, and frames the Kakomi as a reinterpretation of that tradition. Hypebeast, in a report dated October 7, 2026, wrote that the collaboration rebuilds the donabe as a hardwearing kitchen tool rather than a delicate heirloom piece. Shibata also said KINTO ran many glaze tests to find a texture and color that suit a table, which is the opposite of the unglazed approach behind Bizen ware. Kapital named its Century Denim colorways Bizen and Karasu on September 6 after that Okayama kiln town, one of Japan's six ancient kiln towns, so two Japanese ceramic references reached fashion labels within 27 days of each other.

A 2023 Water Bottle Came First and the US Listing Followed

KINTO's own journal dates a Carhartt WIP custom water bottle with the KINTO logo to May 11, 2023, which makes the pot at least the second object the two brands have made together. That page puts Carhartt WIP's founding at 1994 under Edwin Faeh, with a first store in London in 1997 and more than 80 locations today.

Gear Patrol, writing on October 5, 2026, reported that the Carhartt WIP website listed the pot as Coming Soon with no firm release date, while a $55 set of two Canvas Table Set placemats in Dearborn Canvas was already available. That is the 12 ounce cotton duck the Detroit Jacket uses in its Fall Winter 2026 colorways, so the table set is the workwear half of the launch and the pot is the ceramic half.

Hypebeast's October 7 report likewise describes the pot as coming soon on Carhartt WIP's online store. On October 9, 2026 the Carhartt WIP US product page carried the Kakomi Donabe in Black / Grey at $255, marked Final Sale.

In Europe a KINTO 2.5L costs €165 and Urban Star Roma asks €225 for the Carhartt WIP pot, while the US page lists the same collaboration at $255.
