KAWS' CONSTANT PRESSURE SURFACES AT SPACE K SEOUL

177.8 by 127 by 3.8 centimeters. That is the entire wall label Space K Seoul posted for Kaws's newest acrylic on canvas, titled Constant Pressure and dated 2026. There is no description of what the painting shows and no price, just a title and a stretcher size that converts to an exact 70 by 50 by 1.5 inches, the kind of round American lumber cut a Brooklyn studio works from before a Korean venue relists it in metric. Kaws, born Brian Donnelly, has built two decades of market value on exactly this kind of spare disclosure, letting a title and a set of measurements do the work a press release would normally do.

Space K Seoul Has Been Mid Show Since July 23

Constant Pressure did not appear on its own. Space K Seoul opened Friends and Neighbors on July 23, 2026, Kaws's first institutional museum exhibition in Korea, a run of more than 20 new paintings and sculptures that continues through December 27. Korea JoongAng Daily described the show's mood as new tension between friendship, conflict and fame, a description that fits a title like Constant Pressure better than anything cheerful would. A canvas surfacing from the same account, in the same month, under a title that matches the show's register, reads like a piece from inside that run rather than a standalone drop.

Healing Is Eight Feet Wide. Constant Pressure Is Not.

Friends and Neighbors already includes Healing, a 2025 acrylic on canvas in three parts spanning 218.4 by 655.3 centimeters, more than eight feet wide across all three panels. Constant Pressure, at 177.8 by 127 centimeters, is a single panel roughly a quarter of that width. The same show holds Red Ball, where two of Kaws's figures push and pull across a painted playground, and Measuring the Shadow, where the rabbit faced Accomplice studies the ground at its own feet. Constant Pressure's dimensions place it closer to a single figure study than a room filling statement, the kind of canvas a museum hangs between two larger works rather than the one visitors photograph first.

Fellows Ties a Vinyl Drop to This Same Museum Run

Space K Seoul is not only hanging paintings this run. Kaws released Fellows, an 11.2 by 5.7 by 5.9 inch vinyl and paint sculpture, through kawsone.com and the same museum this month, tying a toy drop directly to Friends and Neighbors instead of treating it as a separate release. Comparable Kaws vinyl figures have retailed between $266 and $310 since 2017, a fraction of what a single acrylic canvas commands. A few hundred dollars for a vinyl figure, sold from the same address as a painting practice worth tens of thousands per canvas on average, is the entire Kaws business model working out of one Seoul museum at once.

$71,046 Is the Average. $14.8 Million Is the Ceiling.

Kaws canvases have averaged $71,046 at auction over the trailing twelve months, a wide gap from the artist's record. Sotheby's sold The Kaws Album, a Simpsons parody of the Beatles' Sgt. Pepper cover commissioned by Bathing Ape founder Nigo, for $14.8 million in Hong Kong in April 2019, almost fifteen times its high estimate. Constant Pressure sits nowhere near either number right now. It has no auction history and no listed price, because it exists as a museum object inside Friends and Neighbors rather than a lot for sale, the same status Healing and Red Ball hold in the same run. That gap between museum object and auction lot is where a Kaws canvas spends most of its life before a collector eventually puts it back on a sale room floor.

Forget the Price. Look at the Stretcher.

Constant Pressure will not be the piece people photograph first at Friends and Neighbors, not next to an eight foot wide triptych like Healing or a playground scene like Red Ball. What it proves is smaller and more useful. A 70 by 50 inch acrylic canvas, dated 2026, tagged from Space K Seoul with nothing but a title and three measurements, is still legible as a Kaws painting before anyone explains what it depicts. That legibility, built over two decades and one $14.8 million record sale, is the actual product here. The pressure in the title might be the only description anyone gets, and on a wall that already includes Healing and Red Ball, it might be the only one this piece needs.
