KAWS FELLOWS ARRIVES AT SPACE K SEOUL THIS MONTH

Kaws is putting a new figure into the world this month. FELLOWS is a vinyl and paint sculpture, 11.2 inches long, 5.7 inches wide, and 5.9 inches deep, and it is landing at two addresses at once. One is kawsone.com, the artist's own storefront. The other is Space K Seoul, a museum. That pairing is the story, not the toy alone.

A release that ships through a museum program is a different kind of drop than a release that ships through a webstore, and Kaws is running both channels for the same object in the same month. Nobody has priced FELLOWS yet. The size class already tells you where it sits.

11.2 Inches, Two Materials, One New Character

FELLOWS is cast in vinyl and finished by hand in paint, standing 11.2 inches long, 5.7 inches wide, and 5.9 inches deep, the exact dimensions Kaws listed in the release caption himself. That is a desk sized object, smaller than the 13 inch BFF Open Edition and close in scale to the 11.5 inch Together figure, both earlier Kaws vinyl releases. There is no press render describing a pose or a colorway, only specs. That restraint tells you something before the object even ships. Kaws is treating FELLOWS like a market announcement, not a story.

The name breaks from the artist's usual cast. Companion, BFF, Chum, and Accomplice have run for years across colorways and collaborations, from a Dior suit in 2019 to Cactus Jack green for Travis Scott. A new name on a fresh mold is rarer than a new colorway. Space K Seoul Is Not Just a Toy Shop

Space K Seoul is a museum run under Kolon's Culture and Arts Foundation, and starting July 23, 2026, it opens Friends and Neighbors, Kaws's first institutional exhibition in Korea, running through December 27, 2026. FELLOWS releasing at spacek_korea the same month is not a retail tie in. It is a museum's own gift shop economy attached to a show it is hosting. That is a different signal than a KAWSONE only drop, where the object is the whole event.

Kaws closed his first major West Coast museum show, FAMILY at SFMOMA, on May 3, 2026, after five and a half months on view. Less than three months later, a Korean museum opens its own Kaws exhibition and sells a companion object at the door on day one. The pattern says museums now function as retail partners for Kaws, not just as exhibitors who hang his work and wait.

$280 Bought a Companion Body in 2017

A 13 inch Kaws BFF Open Edition vinyl figure retailed for $280 when it released in October 2017. A similarly scaled Together figure, 11.5 inches tall, retailed for $310. Between 2016 and 2019, the average Kaws Companion retailed near $266, with resale adding another $100 to $150 for buyers who caught the drop, according to secondary market trackers. FELLOWS has not been priced publicly by kawsone.com or spacek_korea as of this writing, but its size class puts it in that same few hundred dollar bracket, not the bronze editions that trade through galleries for six figures.

That gap, a few hundred dollars for vinyl against six figures for cast bronze, is the whole Kaws business model stated plainly. The vinyl line funds the studio and feeds the collector base that later bids on the bronze.

KAWSONE Sells Out in Seconds, Not Minutes

Kaws releases on kawsone.com typically sell out within seconds of going live, not minutes, according to collectors who track the site closely. Drops land every couple of months, and buyers now compete against resale bots the same way sneaker buyers do on release day at Nike SNKRS. That speed is exactly why a dual channel release matters here. Space K Seoul gives Korean collectors and museum visitors a second door into the same object, one that does not run through a bot war on a webstore countdown.

Splitting FELLOWS across a storefront and a museum gift shop is not diversification for its own sake. It is a hedge against Kaws's own scarcity engine.
