CASACOR SÃO PAULO 2026 CLOSES AUGUST 9 WITH 67 ROOMS

10,161 square meters. 67 rooms. 11 days left. Those are the numbers on CASACOR São Paulo as its 39th edition heads into its final stretch at Parque da Água Branca, running through August 9 under the theme Mind and Heart. The premise this year works against speed on purpose, staged as artificial intelligence promises to make everything faster. Architecture Hunter filmed the walk through and credited MCA Estúdio for the cover image, but the space doing the most talking inside the fairgrounds is a 215 square meter installation called Casa Magma, built by Suite Arquitetos.

Suite Arquitetos Poured Geologic Time Into 215 Square Meters

Casa Magma is organized around one room. Suite Arquitetos calls it the heart of the plan, a central living space that every other room in the installation, the dining area, the master suite, the tea bar, the bathroom, has to pass through to be reached. The studio built the whole sequence around Portinari's Argilas porcelain line, a floor covering meant to read like sediment compressed over time rather than a tile pattern picked from a catalog. Sintered stone from the same collection wraps the surfaces that take the most contact, and Deca fixtures and Duratex finishes handle the plumbing and joinery underneath. The palette runs dark red, walnut, burgundy and terracotta, colors the studio pulled from Brazilian ground rather than a paint deck. Nothing in the room is painted to look like stone. The stone is stone, and that is the fastest way to tell a fake showroom from a real one.

São Paulo Already Made This Argument in Brick

This is not the first time São Paulo has staked a design argument on slowing down. Finally Offline covered Mareines Arquitetura's 1,350 square meter Passive House in the state's interior earlier this month, a permanent home that cools itself with a curved brick roof and two slabs instead of a compressor. Casa Magma will not survive past August 9. Mareines' house is built to outlast every trend it gets filed under. The two projects make the same case from opposite ends of permanence, material honesty over mechanical shortcuts, a reforested plot in one, sintered stone read as sediment in the other. A city that keeps producing this argument, in a showroom built for eleven weeks and a house built to last decades, is not doing it by accident.

Mind and Heart Means Something Different in Every Room

Casa Magma is one installation out of 67 at this year's fair, and the Mind and Heart theme does not repeat itself room to room. Some spaces lean toward the mind half of the brief with sharp geometry and cool material, others go full heart with upholstery and warm light, and the fair's own program frames the split as a way of asking visitors to reconnect with a home instead of just decorating one. Houses, apartments, studios, lofts and gardens fill the 10,161 square meters at Parque da Água Branca, alongside dedicated spaces for art installations, dining and shopping. Architecture Hunter's video treats the fair the way a tasting menu treats a kitchen, moving room to room to show how the same two word brief produces 67 different answers rather than one house style repeated 67 times.

Deceleration Is Not Just a Design Trend This Year

CASACOR's organizers built the Mind and Heart brief as a direct response to what they call accelerated artificial intelligence advancement, the same acceleration tech reporters spent 2026 measuring in model release cycles instead of room counts. A showroom fair is a strange place to make that argument, since the whole format exists to turn over 67 rooms in a single season and tear them down in the fall. But interior design has made the permanence case before without calling it that. Barbara Bestor's AD100 redo of Jeff Goldblum's West Hollywood guesthouse rebuilt a single pool house around materials meant to age instead of trend, the same logic Suite Arquitetos applied to Casa Magma, at showroom scale rather than a permanent build. Put a temporary fair installation next to a permanent Los Angeles renovation and the argument holds in both directions. Slow the choices down, and the room stops looking like a showroom.

Eleven Days to See a Room That Disappears in September

CASACOR São Paulo closes August 9, and Casa Magma goes with it. Suite Arquitetos spent this cycle building 215 square meters out of Portinari porcelain, sintered stone and a palette pulled from Brazilian ground, and none of it was designed to survive past the fair's teardown. That is the tell for whether Mind and Heart was a real brief or a marketing theme bolted onto 67 rooms after the fact. A slogan gets repeated. A material decision gets poured, tiled and finished, then demolished on schedule regardless of how good it looked in the video. Casa Magma is the second kind. Eleven days is what is left to stand in the room before it stops existing.
