Awake NY Tags The North Face for 700 Season

700 is the fill rating on The North Face's 1996 Retro Nuptse, and 700 Season is the name Awake NY has put on its next project with the brand. The Queens label is teasing it as coming soon on October 15, 2026, with no release date and no product list. Awake has not said what the number refers to, so the Nuptse connection below is a reading of the numbers, and every figure in it is sourced.

Three Names Share the Credit Line

Awake NY tags The North Face, an account called stfuyoutalk2much and a third name, alehsy, on the announcement, and credits the image to issssaaaaaaaaaac. The North Face is the only one of the three with a public track record beside Awake this year; the other two are credits without a stated role.

The handle shortens to STFU, and a Grailed listing titled Awake NY x STFU x The North Face "Head Crack" Airbrush Coat puts those three names on one coat. If it is the same STFU, this trio has worked together before and 700 Season is a second run rather than a first meeting. The listing gives no date, so treat that history as unconfirmed.

February's Airbrushed Shells Set the Precedent

Awake NY's Spring Summer 2026 range already carried reworked North Face shells with airbrushed artwork by the New York artist Omi. Hypebeast headlined its coverage "Awake NY SS26 Features Remixed North Face Jackets & Forthcoming Air Jordan 6," and DM Fashion Book described a green shell with a Che Guevara portrait, a blue shell with a skull and a red one with an image of Jesus. Coverage dated the range's release to February 27.

That makes 700 Season at least the second time in 2026 that Awake has built part of a season around The North Face. The February pieces remixed existing North Face shells with airbrushed art; Awake has not said whether 700 Season follows that method or starts from a new garment.

Cold World Put Five Days Between Tease and Store

Awake NY confirmed its Fall Winter 2026 season on September 14 with no images, no date and no shop link, named it Cold World on September 16, and opened it at the 62 Orchard Street flagship on Saturday, September 19. Online sales followed on September 26, and the label announced Drop 1 as available in store and online on October 3. Awake's September 14 announcement is the template: a bare line first, a store date days later.

Dan Martensen photographed the Cold World lookbook with Alia West styling, and the Cold World opening at Orchard Street was the first time the public could buy it. The 700 Season announcement uses a freezing face and a Statue of Liberty, the same two symbols Awake put on its Cold World announcement on September 18. That places 700 Season inside the cold weather story the label has told since September.

1996 Is the Year That Sets the Number

The North Face lists the 1996 Retro Nuptse with 700 fill recycled waterfowl down and a 40 denier recycled nylon body, according to Snowsports News reporting on October 8, 2026. Retail listings for the jacket, including Dillard's, give the same 700 fill rating.

The original Nuptse arrived in 1992 as part of The North Face's Nuptse Expedition System, with a cropped hem for harnesses, a double layer nylon yoke and horizontal baffles. By the mid 1990s, New York hip hop artists and graffiti artists had adopted it for warmth, and the 1996 version set the look still recognizable today. That New York history is the context for a Queens label placing a Statue of Liberty next to a North Face number, though Awake has not tied the two together.

For scale, the brand's AW26 Summit Nuptse jacket uses 800 fill ProDown at an average of 554 grams, 100 fill points above the 1996 jacket's rating.

Two Nuptses Landed in September Already

The Summit Nuptse reached UK stores on September 9, 2026, and Aimé Leon Dore's North Face capsule put a hooded, reversible Pertex Nuptse on sale on September 17 at 11 a.m. Eastern. One was built for mountaineers and the other by a New York menswear label.

If 700 Season turns out to be a Nuptse project, it joins a fall in which the jacket has already been pulled in two directions. If it is not, the number still points at the one North Face jacket with deep New York roots.

Confirmed: A Name, a Partner, a Season. Missing: Everything Else

Confirmed are the name 700 Season, The North Face as the partner, the coming soon label and the October 15 announcement date. Not confirmed are a release date, the garments, the fill or materials, the retail channel and whether the project is a Nuptse at all.

Awake's last launch ran store first at Orchard Street on September 19 and online a week later on September 26. Cold World went from a bare announcement to a store date in five days, September 14 to September 19. 700 Season, announced October 15, has not been given one.
