Hypebeast is #89 on the FO Pulse (2026-10-11 close), down 2 from the previous close.

adidas x Brain Dead Bowling released October 8, 2026 in Cheetah (KH8143) and Snakeskin (KJ0662) at 250 dollars, after earlier listings for August 1 and September 17. The shoe reissues a 1978 adidas bowling design on a rubber sole that Brain Dead's product page says is not intended for actual bowling gameplay, where the June 2024 Righty and Lefty pair at 200 dollars had a slick leather slider sole and a note to scuff or resole. Hypebeast found both pairs on sale at wearebraindead.com on October 6, two days before the adidas date. The October 8 release listed five routes, and no source read reports a sellout or a unit count.

Key Points

adidas Originals put October 8 on adidas x Brain Dead Bowling with the line "Strike optional," and the tagline doubles as the spec sheet. The shoe Brain Dead sold in June 2024 with a slick leather slider sole and a warning to scuff or resole it before street wear now ships on a rubber sole that Brain Dead's own product page says is "not intended for actual bowling gameplay." October 8 is also the third date the Cheetah and Snakeskin pairs have carried since July, after retailer listings for August 1 and a brand confirmed September 17, and Hypebeast found both pairs on sale at wearebraindead.com on October 6, two days ahead of the adidas date.

Both pairs cost 250 dollars. That is 50 dollars above the Righty and Lefty pairs Brain Dead raffled at 200 dollars in June 2024, and 50 dollars above the Predator 94 dress shoe the two brands priced at 200 dollars on June 29, 2026. Style code KH8143 is the Cheetah, a leopard fur style upper, and KJ0662 is the Snakeskin, a faux snakeskin upper; both carry serrated Three Stripes in cream, gold debossing on the lateral side, a heel tab embroidered with the Brain Dead emblem, custom sock liners and custom laces. The silhouette is low, with a raised heel and a reshaped toe.

August 1, Then September 17, Then October 8

Hypebeast's first official look on July 29, 2026 listed an August 1 release with the price marked TBC, and DSCENE repeated August 1 on July 30. Sneaker Bar Detroit's September 9 update called August 1 an early retailer listing and gave September 17 as the date the brands confirmed, at 250 dollars a pair. By October 5 Sneakerjagers had moved both pairs to October 8, and Nice Kicks published KH8143 and KJ0662 against October 8, through the adidas CONFIRMED app, wearebraindead.com and select retailers, with adidas calling the quantities limited.

Brain Dead's own store did not wait for adidas. Hypebeast's Nico Gavino reported on October 6 that both pairs were "available now" at wearebraindead.com, and Sneakers Cartel repeated the available now status on October 7. adidas Originals' release day post then read "A lane of its own," the line the October 8 listing carried.

Brain Dead Told 2024 Buyers to Scuff the Sole. Now the Sole Is Rubber.

Brain Dead's June 2024 release note read "Bowling shoes are slippery by design. For casual use, please scuff or resole," as Hypebeast's Logan Fairbrother reported on June 11, 2024. That pair, per Brain Dead's own Instagram as relayed by Highsnobiety, put a slick leather slider sole on one foot and a traction rubber sole with a leather tip on the other, a Lefty in white and a Righty in black built for left and right handed bowlers.

The 2026 product page lists a rubber sole, 100 percent leather, US men's sizing from 4.5 to 13.5 and the advice to size up between sizes, and the gameplay line replaces the scuffing line. Sole Retriever's Zach Harris notes the fixed sole and heel where modern bowling shoes use swappable soles.

The listings do not agree on what the side panels are. Brain Dead's Snakeskin page says 100 percent leather in the materials line and faux snakeskin in the description, Hypebeast's July preview called both uppers premium textile, and Sneakerjagers' October 5 preview called the Cheetah premium leather with a fur style print. If you cannot name the material, you are buying a logo, and here the material is a print.

At 250 dollars the ratio runs against the buyer. The 2024 pair sold its 200 dollars on a functional slider sole and a two foot asymmetry; the 2026 pair charges 50 dollars more for a print on a fixed rubber sole. On the same Brain Dead collection page, the four Brain Dead x adidas Stan Smiths sit marked from 150 dollars to 75 and the Climacool 2 from 180 to 90.

Serrated Stripes on a 1978 Shoe the Trade Keeps Calling a Samba

Hypebeast, Sneaker Bar Detroit, DSCENE, Nice Kicks and Sole Retriever all filed the July previews under the name Samba Bowling, while Brain Dead's store calls the shoe adidas Bowling and Hypebeast's October 6 report traces it to a 1978 adidas design. The 1978 bowling shoe and the Samba are different objects; the Samba began as a 1950 indoor football shoe for frozen pitches, and Sneaker Freaker traces the adidas bowling line to the late 1970s Kegler Super, built for a German style of bowling.

adidas sells its own inline Samba Bowling in Leopard, which Sneakers Cartel places in summer 2026, so a leopard print bowling shoe with Three Stripes exists twice this year under two names.

Five Routes, and Nothing Reported on a Sellout

The October 8 release listed five routes, the adidas CONFIRMED app, adidas.com, select adidas stores, WeAreBrainDead.com and select retailers, where the June 2024 release ran through one raffle on Brain Dead's own website. Nice Kicks listed the Cheetah, KH8143, and the Snakeskin, KJ0662, against the CONFIRMED app, WeAreBrainDead.com and select retailers, and Sneakerjagers added select adidas stores and wrote that adidas calls the quantities limited. No page names a single one of the select retailers.

The Disney capsule used the same doors. WDWNT reported on June 25, 2026 that the twelve piece Disney capsule arrived on June 29 in limited quantities on the CONFIRMED app, with adidas.com, select adidas stores, select retailers and wearebraindead.com also listed. In June the early appearance came from a retailer, with House of Heat reporting pieces rolling out at Nordstrom before June 29. In October it came from the brand's own store.

On October 9, 2026 the DSMNY E Shop's Brain Dead page held 30 products and none from adidas, and no source read reports a sellout, a unit count or a restock. Brain Dead's collection page showed no sold out label on either listing that day.

Dover Street Market Had the Black and Gold Pair in April 2025

Brain Dead revealed the first pair in Paris during men's fashion week as a friends and family release, per Highsnobiety, and Kyle Ng had shared it on his Instagram by January 18, 2024, per Hypebeast. Sneaker Freaker records that pair as marking Brain Dead's tenth anniversary.

A Dover Street Market exclusive followed, style JP9838, black with contrast white stitching, gilded adidas and Dover Street Market branding on the lateral and the Brain Dead logohead on a white leather heel tab, with an April 17, 2025 release date on GOAT. Dover Street Market Los Angeles then took a Brain Dead delivery on October 6, 2026 that credited adidas Originals, two days before the adidas date. adidas CONFIRMED follows the Bowling with Hellstar on October 10.

Wait. The 2024 Righty and Lefty pair had a slider sole, a two foot asymmetry and a 200 dollar price; the 2026 pair has a print, a fixed rubber sole and a 250 dollar price. Brain Dead's own collection page already shows how adidas pairs that sit get handled, 150 dollar Stan Smiths at 75.
