STONE ISLAND STUDIO ONE BRINGS LONDON INTO THE CROWD

Stone Island Studio One opened its London debut with a Paix Per Mil takeover, followed by a People Pleasers afterparty. The first day's photographs put performers within a dense crowd, with the wooden sound system sharing the frame instead of disappearing behind a distant stage.

Stone Island identifies London as the fourth edition of Friendly Pressure: Studio One. Its September 25 to 27 programme occupies the Old Selfridges Hotel, extending a listening project that previously accompanied the brand's James Blake performance in Milan. The London photographs supply a different spatial arrangement: bodies press close to the performer, and the loudspeaker cabinet becomes one of the room's most recognisable objects.

Paix Per Mil Takes the First Session

Yves, IOAH, Oli XL and Mechatok make up the Paix Per Mil takeover listed for Session 01. Stone Island groups the four names under one programme heading, grouping the opening sequence around the Paix Per Mil name and its four listed performers.

In one photograph, a performer dressed in white holds the microphone amid raised hands and tightly packed heads. The people at the front occupy a visual plane close to that as the performance. There is little empty space for the camera to turn the performer into an isolated fashion portrait.

Another frame brings a pink Stone Island jacket beside the wooden speaker. The garment's colour catches the eye first, but the cabinet's size gives the photograph its structure. The music equipment has the physical presence that a shop fixture or runway backdrop might have in another brand image. Here, the surrounding audience explains why it is in the room.

The photographs establish proximity and density; they cannot establish how the room sounded. Friendly Pressure's custom system and the named performances are confirmed parts of the programme, while bass response, volume and the experience of a particular set belong to the people who attended.

People Pleasers Follows With Four More Names

Nemzzz, Slew, Parked Up and Asian Brat appear under Session 02, the afterparty by People Pleasers. The split gives the opening day two distinct organising groups and eight named performers across its published programme.

That division is useful when looking back through the carousel. Stone Island's caption supplies a running order at the session level, with Session 01 and Session 02 presented as separate groups. It does not identify every face in every photograph, so the photographs provide a record of the room, with the caption naming the performers separately.

Stone Island's relationship with musicians also appears in the Skepta jacket archive, where a specific garment carries the connection. Studio One enlarges the scale of that relationship. The named artists, a temporary venue and a sound system become the objects around which people gather, with clothing remaining visible inside the crowd.

Old Selfridges Hotel Hosts the London Edition

The London Studio One programme runs from September 25 through September 27 at the Old Selfridges Hotel. It forms part of Stone Island's wider Selfridges activity, alongside the separately staged Collector Series.

Those two settings produce different kinds of access. A collector's rail invites someone to inspect a garment; these photographs show a room organised around a shared performance. The industrial ceiling, lighting rig and tall speaker cabinets remain visible above the people, giving the temporary venue a recognisable outline even when the lower half of a frame is filled by the audience.

Stone Island has also released a Miami Music Week set, allowing one of its music events to circulate as a recording. London's opening day is documented here through the performers it names and the crowd it shows. Paix Per Mil takes the first session, People Pleasers the second, and the wooden system stays close enough to the audience to appear beside the clothes in the closing photographs.
