UFC is #17 on the FO Pulse (2026-09-02 close), up 1 from the previous close.

Skepta is featured in Stone Island's Autumn Winter 026 Community as a Form of Research campaign, photographed by David Sims in the 4100035 Dense Oxford Nylon TC jacket and answering two of Hans Ulrich Obrist's curated questions about his mother and the meaning of freedom. The portrait follows his August 28 Reading Festival set, where he wore a rare Stone Island archive jacket from 2001 days before the official campaign ran.

Key Points

David Sims shot it. Ferdinando Verderi directed it. Hans Ulrich Obrist wrote the questions. Max Pearmain styled it. The only name most casual scrollers will remember is the one wearing the jacket, and this time that name is Skepta.

Stone Island cast him in the 4100035 Dense Oxford Nylon TC jacket for its Autumn Winter 026 Community as a Form of Research campaign, the same fireside portrait series that has already run through Serpentine Gallery director Hans Ulrich Obrist's hundred stock questions for a UFC fighter, a WNBA champion and a two time Olympic table tennis player. Skepta answered three of them. Question four asked who he admires most in history. He said his mum. Question sixty six asked what freedom is. He said it is something you have to work on.

Six days earlier, at Reading Festival, he had already made Stone Island's case for free.

Skepta Already Wore Stone Island Before the Campaign Called

Skepta closed his Reading set on August 28 in a Stone Island Micro Felt Transparent Cover Jacket from the brand's Spring Summer 2001 collection, a laminated nylon piece from Paul Harvey's era at the label that has become one of the harder archive pieces to find in the green colorway. Finally Offline covered that set in detail, tracing the jacket back to the Stone Island archive he pulled it from.

That is not the sequence a marketing calendar usually produces. Brands cast a face, the face wears the clothes, the internet notices. Skepta ran it backward. He wore a twenty five year old Stone Island jacket on a festival stage on his own account, and less than a week later the brand's official campaign photographed him in its newest one. The archive credibility came first. The invoice came second.

Question 4 of 100. His Answer Was About His Mum.

Hans Ulrich Obrist has been running the same hundred question interview across every Community as a Form of Research subject since the format's 2024 debut, and the questions do not change for who is answering them. Skepta got the same fourth question every other subject gets, and answered it the same way most subjects do, with a specific person instead of a general sentiment.

His mum, he said, is where his resilience, his strength and his outspokenness come from. It is the kind of line a producer would cut from an interview for being too soft if it did not also explain the entire persona Skepta has built across two decades of grime records. The sixty sixth question, on what freedom actually is, got a shorter answer. Work. Not a lyric, not a hook, just the word.

David Sims Shoots Every Subject the Same Way

David Sims has photographed every portrait in this campaign era, which means the visual grammar around Skepta was already fixed before he showed up to set. Fireside light, a plain background, the subject looking past the camera rather than into it. The consistency is the point. Stone Island is not selling a rapper's individual style, it is slotting him into a format built for Chito Vera and Xu Xin just as easily as for him.

That format has room for sport as often as it has room for music. Two time Olympic table tennis champion Xu Xin wore the same season's Stellina jersey for the identical fireside treatment a week and a half earlier. A grime artist, an Olympic athlete and a UFC fighter answering the same hundred questions in the same chair is not a coincidence Stone Island is hiding. It is the entire premise of the campaign.

Fakemink Got the Debut Album Timing. Skepta Got the Archive Credibility.

Fakemink joined the same campaign days earlier in the Q100027 nylon jacket, timed to a May debut album and a July single, the kind of rollout math labels build press cycles around. Skepta has no album on the calendar right now. What he has instead is a documented history of wearing Stone Island's own archive before any stylist asked him to, which is a different kind of currency and a harder one to manufacture on a press schedule.

That is the trade the campaign keeps making. Newer artists arrive with a release to promote. Skepta arrives with a track record the brand cannot buy, only borrow. A campaign built on interviewing its subjects instead of dressing them is betting that the second kind of currency photographs better, and a rapper answering a question about his mother instead of his mixtape is the proof.
