OFF WHITE RIMOWA CASE TURNED BELONGINGS INTO THE DESIGN

The Off White Rimowa transparent carry on suitcase was released on June 5, 2018, a clear polycarbonate case that made a traveler's belongings part of the design. Virgil Abloh also appeared in Rimowa's Never Still campaign that year, in a film directed by Dexter Navy.

Polycarbonate With Nothing Behind It

The case has no interior lining, so everything packed inside shows through the shell. Rimowa built it on its Essential model and fitted a black Flex Divider.

Abloh's Off White turned what luggage usually hides into the surface. Each traveler's "PERSONAL BELONGINGS" became part of the look, so no two packed cases read alike.

The case reached shoppers in the same month as his Louis Vuitton menswear debut, the show after which Kanye West hugged him.

Never Still Put Virgil on Camera

Rimowa's Never Still campaign featured Virgil Abloh in 2018, with Dexter Navy directing the film. The collaboration case gave the campaign a physical counterpart in the Off White catalog.

Rimowa's Shell Keeps Getting Rewritten

Olaolu Slawn released the Slimowa in June 2026, a run of grooved aluminum suitcases that parodies Rimowa's shell. It was limited to 100 units in three sizes, Carry On, Check In and The Trunk.
