Nike Air Works Shows Three Shoes, Moves Mumbai to March

Nike's Air Works program has revealed three of eight designer Air Max shoes, from Motoi Hatsuki, Tasnim Chowdhury and Marc Su, each made with Zellerfeld as a limited friends and family run with no listed price or sale date. Nike's September 24 schedule moved Diya Joukani's Mumbai pair from November to March 2027, the Air Max Day month. Separately, the retail Air Max 1000.3 went on SNKRS on September 24 and opened to Nike By You on October 6 at $190.

Key Points
- Nike has shown 3 of 8 Air Works shoes, from Hatsuki, Tasnim and Su, with no price, pair count or sale date.
- Diya Joukani's Mumbai reveal moved from November to March 2027, the Air Max Day month, with no reason given.
- Air Max 1000.3 hit SNKRS September 24; Nike By You opened October 6 at $190 in 14 versions, US only.
Nike has shown three of the eight Air Works shoes it announced, and none of them has a price, a pair count or a sale day. It has also moved one date. The launch schedule Nike published on May 28 put Diya Joukani's Mumbai pair in November; its September 24 update lists that pair last, in March 2027, and leaves November empty.
On the day it revealed Marc Su's Air Max Link, September 24, Nike also released a different 3D printed Air Max, the 1000.3, through SNKRS in the US. Only one of those went on sale. Nike's releases describe the designer shoes only as limited friends and family runs and never mention a retail sale.
Zellerfeld is the maker on both tracks, the designer shoes and the retail Air Max 1000.
Hypebeast Ties Two of the Three Shoes to the Air Max 1000
Two of the three revealed designs trace back to the Air Max 1000, according to Hypebeast. Motoi Hatsuki's Tokyo prototype blends Air Max 1000 inspiration with ornamental 3D textures, the site reported on August 2, with the Tailwind V as its other reference, and Marc Su's Air Max Link shares structure with the 1000 and borrows design codes from Nike's late 1990s Alpha Project era.
Hatsuki's is a one piece print with no stitching or overlays, a slip on in one tone with oversized Air bubbles at the heel and forefoot, a neon yellow unit at the back and a paisley style loop on the side panels. Su's has a sculpted midsole that rises and curves around the heel, supported by a layered backpiece, with two Air units in the forefoot. He called it a "link from Beijing for community to our Future."
Tasnim Chowdhury's London shoe is the outlier. Sneaker Bar Detroit said its curved sections, lifted from the midsole across the forefoot, bring the Air Max Moto 2K to mind, and its exposed Air echoes the units on the Air Max Plus. The curves are formed into the print rather than built from stitched panels, and she first showed it at a Nike Air Works event at Manor Place in London.
All three began at Nike's Philip H. Knight Campus in Beaverton, Oregon, where eight designers spent May 11 to 14 working with Nike mentors before building the shoes with Zellerfeld. Nike gave its headquarters that name on October 14, 2025.
Mumbai Moved to March, the Air Max Day Month
March 26 is Air Max Day, the date the Air Max 1 first released in 1987, which makes Air Max Day 2027 its 40th anniversary. Nike says each designer's shoe leads into that day, and Diya Joukani's pair now closes the run in March.
Nike's May 28 schedule had her between Masyn in October and Jose Wong in December. The September 24 update puts her after Omi in February, carries no November entry and gives no reason on the page. Nike announced Air Works on Air Max Day 2026, the day the Air Liquid Max was set to go on sale across SNKRS and select retail partners. "Air Works is about celebrating the cultural impact of Air Max and inviting a core group of global creatives to imagine what its future could look like," said Andy Caine, Nike Sportswear's VP and Creative Director.
Nike's own pages also disagree on the class. Its consumer page for the program, marked updated October 14, lists Seoul among the eight cities and never names Mumbai.
September 24 Put One Printed Air Max on Sale and Revealed Another
The Air Max 1000.3 went on sale through SNKRS in the US on September 24 in Stone with a Burgundy Crush Air unit, and Zellerfeld ran a global raffle through September 28. It is the third version of the shoe Nike debuted with Zellerfeld at ComplexCon in November 2024, where attendees had a chance to win a pair available only at the event.
Nike scheduled general release of the first Air Max 1000 for August 19, 2025, at $179, HiConsumption reported, with black through Zellerfeld, Oat through a 10 minute SNKRS draw and whole sizes only. The 1000.3 swaps the earlier feathered panels for ZellerMesh, an open, textile like upper that Hypebeast says uses less material, and softens the midsole so the visible Air unit activates more fully. Gear Patrol lists it at $180 at Nike and $179 at Zellerfeld.
Zellerfeld prints each pair from a single continuous strand of TPU, varying density by zone, and says one material makes the shoe recyclable, Sneakerjagers reported.
Nike By You Opened the 1000.3 to Custom Orders on October 6
Nike By You opened the Air Max 1000.3 for custom orders on October 6, 2026, at $190 in the US. That is $10 above its $180 SNKRS price and $11 above the 2025 original, and it keeps the promise Nike made on May 28 that the Air Max 1000 would reach By You later this year.
The configurator offers two uppers, Black and Stone, and seven Air unit colors including Volt, Team Orange and Pink Spell, which makes 14 combinations, Sneaker Bar Detroit reported. Each pair is printed after it is ordered, and the option is limited to the United States for now. Sneakerjagers said 3D printed graphics and multicolor uppers are not in the configurator yet, and Sole Retriever judged production times and color mixing good enough for on demand ordering.
Zellerfeld Rebuilt Its Marketplace Between Nike's Promise and the Launch
Zellerfeld unveiled a relaunched website and marketplace on July 21, 2026, with a fit profile that persists across every creator and product a customer buys on the platform. A June partnership with Volumental feeds foot geometry from its scanners into Zellerfeld's printing pipeline, 3D Printing Industry reported on August 5.
Both moves landed after Nike's May 28 By You promise and before the October launch. Cofounder and CEO Cornelius Schmitt said Zellerfeld wanted to digitize footwear the way music and video were digitized, and that "the last years were spent building the fulfillment infrastructure to make that possible."
Five Reveals Remain, and Nike Has Not Priced Any
Five reveals remain on Nike's calendar. Masyn of Los Angeles is listed for October, Jose Wong of Shanghai for December, Yams of Paris for January, Omi of New York City for February and Diya Joukani of Mumbai for March. Hypebeast describes a small family and friends run of the Air Max Link ahead of Air Max Day 2027 and calls wider public release details unconfirmed.
Nike calls Air Works a research, development and design program, so a slow reveal fits its own description, and nothing on its pages rules out a wider release. It is also not the only eight city design program Nike is running. Complex reported on July 2 that Jordan Brand's Jordan Design Studio would put local mentors in Beijing, Chicago, Los Angeles, Mexico City, New York, Seoul, Shanghai and Tokyo.
Nike's calendar ends in March with eight designer shoes shown and, so far, no price on any. The printed Air Max a customer can order costs $190, comes in 14 versions and is limited to the United States.
