New Balance built the Maxey V1 around a two piece plate system instead of the single full length plate most performance basketball shoes use. The split is there for targeted stability and support while a guard cuts and accelerates into space.
FuelCell supplies the lightweight cushioning, and extra reinforcement through the midfoot and arch locks the foot in during hard cuts. The upper borrows from the lifestyle side of the brand: wavy overlays inspired by the 9060 flow across the upper and into the sculpted midsole. The black and blue pair retails for $130.
Two New Balance Launches on October 2
The Maxey V1 shared its release date with the Kith and United Arrows & Sons 990v3 pair made for Kith's 15th anniversary. One is a performance signature built for a point guard, the other a Made in USA lifestyle pair, and both landed on the same Friday.
