NAKED COPENHAGEN'S ADIDAS CAPSULE LANDS AUGUST 14

NAKED Copenhagen turned its adidas Running launch into a cookout on August 6. Another drink, another lap on the track, another plate, was how NAKED described the day itself, while Copenhagen Fashion Week ran its 20th edition across the city. The line NAKED posted the day after closed the loop: it was never about pace, just showing up.

That week closed the first stretch of the adidas Running x NAKED Copenhagen partnership, pairing the Adizero Evo SL performance runner with a ready to wear capsule NAKED calls made to move through every part of the day. NAKED already knows how to sell a shoe. What it proved this week is that it can throw a party around one too, then thank everyone who showed up for it.

Simon Birk Shot the Lookbook, Not a Lineup

Photographer Simon Birk shot the capsule lookbook with stylist Secily Viviana and hair and makeup from Martine Mackenhauer, credits NAKED listed in full alongside the images. The campaign line reads Movement looks different now, and NAKED built the visuals around that idea, models mid stride in the morning, the same pieces worn loose at an afternoon plate lunch. Copywriter Jess Harvey wrote the copy, and NAKED's own team took creative direction and producer credit rather than handing the storytelling to adidas. Most retailer collaborations let the brand run the campaign. NAKED kept this one entirely in house, down to the words.

The Evo SL Zip Covers Its Own Laces

NAKED's first product in the partnership already shipped. The Adizero Evo SL Zip released July 15 in blush pink ripstop with metallic silver panels crossing the forefoot, a zipper shroud that covers the standard lacing rather than replacing it, and a cream Lightstrike Pro midsole with Continental rubber underfoot. It retailed for about $180 through NAKED and select adidas Consortium stockists, a materials heavy build that sits closer to the sculptural TPU work adidas gave Willy Chavarria's pink Megaride than to a stock running shoe. NAKED is not selling the Evo SL as performance gear here. It is selling the same foam and rubber platform elite runners race in, dressed for a courtyard instead of a start line.

Three Evo SL Collaborations Since Late June

adidas has now put the Adizero Evo SL through three separate retail collaborations in about seven weeks. BAPE's Teamgeist pack used the silhouette for a $200 World Cup capsule on June 27, NAKED's Zip pair followed July 15, and the full ready to wear capsule closes the run on August 14. That is a fast cadence for one performance shoe to anchor three different stories, and it says adidas trusts the Evo SL's shape more than any single collaborator's name to carry a release.

Copenhagen Fashion Week Turns 20 Without NAKED on a Runway

Copenhagen Fashion Week ran its 20th edition from August 3 to August 7, its biggest showcase yet for Northern Europe's fashion capital, and NAKED chose to sit outside the official show calendar entirely. A cookout in a courtyard is not a runway slot, and that is the point, especially in a week built around 36 shows and presentations at venues across the city. The same instinct shows up elsewhere in adidas Originals this summer, pairing pop stars like Tate McRae and Emilia Mernes with a new training line while handing its actual running platform to an independent Copenhagen retailer instead. Two different audiences, two different playbooks, one shoe wall. NAKED filled its own small stage anyway and closed with a thank you instead of an after party recap.

NAKED has one release behind it and a bigger one landing August 14. The Zip pair already proved the retailer can carry adidas's Lightstrike Pro construction into a fashion context without losing what makes the platform run. The apparel side of the capsule, Adizero run shorts, a run jacket and a long sleeve top all carrying the NAKED co brand, is the real test, since none of that catalog has a midsole story to lean on. If NAKED's apparel holds the same materials discipline as the $180 Zip, this becomes the collaboration other adidas Consortium accounts get measured against next. If it does not, the shoe was the whole story and the cookout was just a very good party.
