CARPET COMPANY ADDS GODDESS HOODIES TO AUGUST 15 DROP

Carpet Company's Station North store had hundreds of people lined up outside when it opened in April. The Baltimore label is about to test that loyalty again. Season 22 Drop 2 adds Goddess hoodies with embroidered Freyed appliqué and tees with a front and back overprint, both landing in store Saturday, August 15 at 11am and online at Carpetco.us Sunday, August 16 at 8pm. Neither piece has shown up on the brand's site yet, so the caption drop is currently the only record of what is coming.

That is a narrow window for two new silhouettes, and Carpet Company has been filling it with new pieces for three weeks straight, one caption at a time.

Freyed Appliqué Trades the Rhinestones for a Needle

The Goddess hoodie is built around embroidered appliqué, not the checkerboard rhinestone treatment Carpet Company ran back in early July. Appliqué means the graphic is cut from separate fabric and stitched down, a slower and more expensive process than a heat transfer or a straight screen print, and it holds up to washing in a way a printed rhinestone pattern does not. The tee half of the release takes the opposite approach, an overprint running on both the front and the back panel, which uses the whole shirt as the canvas instead of chest real estate alone.

Carpet Company's print shop has leaned into that kind of process transparency lately. It recently turned an ink stained test print rag from its own screen print floor into a tee, scanning the mistake itself as the graphic instead of hiding it. Appliqué on a hoodie and a double sided overprint on a tee sit on the same side of that line, construction detail treated as the selling point rather than a logo stamped on a blank.

August 15 and 16 Already Belong to Two Other Pieces

Saturday, August 15 and Sunday, August 16 were already claimed before the Goddess pieces showed up. An overwashed pinstripe denim work jacket and a pepper spray keychain piece are both set for the same in store Saturday, online Sunday slot, alongside a double sided Iron Ankh umbrella that was announced for that window back on July 30. That umbrella marked the first time the Iron Ankh graphic had ever left clothing, after riding a jean jacket since Season 9 and a cap since Season 21. Carpet Company has spent Season 22 Drop 2 teasing new items every few days since it opened July 23 with a waxed appliqué work jacket, then routing nearly all of them to the same two calendar dates rather than staggering each release across the month. The Goddess hoodies and tees make it at least the seventh piece funneled into that pattern.

Ayman and Osama Abdeldayem Left NASA and Math for Screen Printing

Carpet Company was founded in 2016 by brothers Ayman and Osama Abdeldayem, who left careers at NASA and in mathematics to start a skate and streetwear label out of Baltimore. Their father was a physicist. That engineering background sits underneath a brand that now ships roughly 20,000 pieces a season and has collaborated with Nike SB, Vans, the Baltimore Orioles, and the hardcore band Turnstile, four very different rooms for one city's label to have a foot in. None of that reads as a skate brand pedigree on paper, which is part of why the Station North store mattered when it opened in April. It was the label's first permanent retail address after nearly a decade of pop ups and online only seasons, and it is the same storefront handling Saturday's in person drop.

Nothing Here Has a Price Tag Yet

Carpet Company has not listed pricing for the Goddess hoodie or the overprint tee ahead of Saturday, which is consistent with how it has handled nearly every Drop 2 piece before selling it. What is confirmed is the process, embroidered appliqué on the hoodie and a two sided overprint on the tee, and the address, a Station North storefront that already proved it can pull a line down the block before the doors open.
