SIEGELMAN STABLE TAKES ITS RACING STABLE LINE TO CHICAGO

Dark red, navy and gold are Siegelman Stable's racing silks before they are a hoodie or a hat. Robert Siegelman ran horses under those colors at Roosevelt and Yonkers Raceways starting in 1982, and on August 14 they turned up on siegelmanstable.com under a new heading, Chicago Exclusives. A hat, a classic tee and a zip hoodie, all carrying the label's original Siegelman Racing Stable wordmark, now belong to a city that has never had a Siegelman collection of its own.

That absence of a partner is the thesis. Every other Siegelman Stable release this year has come with a professional league attached, the Mets, the Knicks, a Yankees collection that landed ten days earlier. Chicago gets none of that. It gets the brand on its own terms, the same treatment New York got before any of those licenses existed.

The Wordmark Wears the City, Not a League Crest

The Chicago Exclusives drop carries no Cubs, Bulls, White Sox or Bears branding anywhere on it. It is Siegelman Stable's own Racing Stable graphics, the horse and the Siegelman Racing Stable lettering, printed on a city instead of licensed to a team.

The collection runs three pieces, a Chicago branded Racing Stable cap listed at 78 dollars, a Chicago Racing Stable classic tee at 98 dollars, and a Chicago Racing Stable zip hoodie at 248 dollars, according to the brand's own product listings. The hoodie follows the same build as the rest of the Racing Stable line, organic cotton fleece with an enzyme wash, the horse graphic on the chest and the racing wordmark on the back. Hats are produced in New York and Brooklyn and clothing in Los Angeles, by the label's own account of its production.

Independent labels have been leaning on this exact move all month. Union LA turned its own shop inside out for a Dickies capsule built for one store and one date, no national retailer attached. Siegelman Stable is running the same single market logic at a bigger price point.

1982. Roosevelt and Yonkers. That Is Where the Colors Started.

Robert Siegelman ran his horses under the Siegelman Racing Stable name at Roosevelt and Yonkers Raceways starting in 1982, and the dark red, navy and gold on today's hats and hoodies are those same racing silks. His son Max founded the apparel label in 2020 out of Roslyn Heights on Long Island, using the family wordmark instead of inventing a new one.

A portion of the label's proceeds still funds equine therapy, the mission Robert built into the original stable, including a program run with a Hackensack hospital for children undergoing cancer treatment. Nassau County recognized the family for that giving history in 2025, a detail that outlasts any single team collaboration the brand signs and one most of its Chicago buyers will never read on a hang tag.

Max Siegelman Has Shipped Four Releases Since June

Chicago Exclusives is Max Siegelman's fourth release in about ten weeks. The Maxfli golf capsule, Harness the Drive, opened at the US Open in June, a dinner marking that partnership followed later the same month, and a 13 piece Yankees collection landed August 4, ten days before Chicago went live.

Finally Offline covered Siegelman Stable's 13 piece Yankees collection when jackets, shorts, tees and two New Era cap builds launched at Yankee Stadium and siegelmanstable.com. The label followed a familiar pattern there, a licensed team drop first, then a standalone release that answers to nobody but the family name. The Maxfli dinner that closed out the US Open partnership showed the same instinct, proof over press release. Chicago is another version of that move, no launch party, no licensing announcement, just a product page going live.

A Cubs Deal Would Have Been the Easier Play

Chicago is home to five professional franchises and Siegelman Stable signed none of them for this drop. That is a choice, not an oversight, from a label that closed a Yankees license only ten days earlier and clearly knows how to make that kind of deal happen.

Every one of Siegelman Stable's prior expansions used a partner's crest to open a market, New Era and the Mets for the caps, Dick's owned Maxfli for the golf capsule, the Yankees organization itself for August. Chicago is the first time the label has tested whether its own wordmark, on its own racing colors, can sell in a city where nobody has seen it worn on a bench or a mound. At 78 dollars for the cap and 248 dollars for the zip hoodie, that is a bet on brand recognition over league recognition, and Chicago is the first market where Siegelman Stable will find out the answer without a team's fan base underneath it.
