ComplexCon 2026 runs October 3 and 4 at the Los Angeles Convention Center and Crypto.com Arena, inside the L.A. LIVE campus. That weekend marks the festival's tenth anniversary, ten years removed from the first ComplexCon on November 5 and 6, 2016, at the Long Beach Convention Center.

Playboi Carti Holds a Title, Not Just a Time Slot

Playboi Carti is not simply this year's closing act. He is credited as artistic director of ComplexCon 2026 alongside Hiroshi Fujiwara of Fragment Design, and his label Opium, rebranded 00pium for the weekend, is running a full takeover of the anniversary edition.

That distinction matters. A headliner shows up, plays a set, leaves. An artistic director has a hand in how the whole weekend looks and reads, from the branding to who else gets booked. ComplexCon has used that structure before with Pharrell in 2016. Handing it to Carti in 2026 is the festival telling its own audience where the culture currently sits.
