NIKE ACG'S $260 ULTRAFLY WON FIVE PODIUMS AT CHONGLI 168

Nike ACG's newest film has no product shot. Just mist over a ridge, a headlamp beam cutting through rain, and a voiceover reciting conditions like a war dispatch: mist, rain, deluge, run day then night. The brand posted it on July 14, three days after its All Conditions Racing Department left the Chongli 168 in Hebei, China, with five podium finishes across four distances. The 260 dollar Ultrafly Trail racing shoe that got them there never appears on screen. That absence is the strategy.

$260 Buys a Split Carbon Plate, Not a Product Shot

The Ultrafly Trail retails for 260 dollars and pairs a full length carbon fiber plate with Nike's ZoomX foam, the same compound built for the brand's road racing line. Nike softened the plate's stiffness from the original Ultrafly for better control on technical ground, and the shoe carries a 37 millimeter heel stack, 28.5 millimeter forefoot, and 8.5 millimeter drop. A men's size 10 weighs 10.1 ounces. The outsole runs Vibram Megagrip rubber, built to hold traction on the wet granite and mud the Chongli course delivers every July. None of that spec sheet made it into the recap film. The only thing viewers see is the terrain the shoe survived: fog banks, standing water, a trail that turned from dirt to slurry after dark.

The All Conditions Racing Department left Chongli with five podium finishes across four race distances between July 11 and July 12, 2026. Chongli Has Run Every July Since 2011

Chongli sits roughly three hours northwest of Beijing and hosted the cross country skiing venues for the 2022 Winter Olympics, so the singletrack ACG's team ran in July was cut for snow sport, not summer racing. The Racing Department carries 22 athletes across China, the United Kingdom, Spain, and Italy, including Caleb Olson, winner of the 2025 Western States Endurance Run. The same roster raced a Porsche up a Montana ice track back in March, and Chongli is their biggest single weekend medal count of the 2026 season so far.

Forget the Shoe. Nike ACG Wants the Weather Remembered.

This is not the first time Nike ACG has hidden the product behind the scene. Its Summer 2026 campaign ran two posts of pure terrain photography with no shoe in frame, the same restraint a phone company uses when it opens a launch film with a horizon shot and saves the spec sheet for the fine print. ACG is chasing Salomon, whose sneaker sales cleared 2 billion dollars in 2025 after doubling from 1 billion the year before, largely on trail and gravel running shoes. The Chongli film is not selling a shoe. It is proof of use. Mud on the lens does more to move a 260 dollar racing flat than a studio shot ever could, because the mud is the product demo, and it is free.

Buy the Ultrafly Trail if the Vibram Megagrip outsole and split carbon plate matter more than a hype campaign. Skip it if 260 dollars for a trail shoe with no marquee colorway feels steep.
