## The Photographer Behind Instagram History Announces Photo Show + Book Queens-born Dominican photographer Aimos, known widely in the creative community as "your favorite photographer's favorite photographer," captured the second most-liked post in Instagram history with over 9.5 million comments featuring XXXTentacion. On March 5, 2026, the artist who fought for proper credit recognition steps into the gallery spotlight at Extra Butter's Long Island City location. The exhibition takes place at Extra Butter's 2020-opened Queens store, which nests in the adjoining building to the iconic MoMA PS1. The 3,000 square foot shop maintains Extra Butter's clean minimal interior aesthetics. ## Egypt Through Aimos' Lens The solo exhibition titled "Lowdown" showcases works captured during Aimos' travels to Egypt, marking a departure from his concert photography roots. Aimos never received credit for the photo he captured of XXXTentacion, which heightened anxiety struggles in the years following, leading him to speak out about his experience and raise awareness surrounding mental health in the creative community. In partnership with Street Dreams, Aimos now leads the #NowCrediting movement, which aims to create a more digitally empathetic ecosystem for creatives and encourage proper artist attribution. ## Extra Butter's Cultural Platform "This neighborhood has history," says Extra Butter creative director Bernie Gross. "From the 5Pointz graffiti mecca, to MoMA PS1, to the other number of independent galleries, our mission is to use our platform to inspire and empower the local creative." Extra Butter provides exterior mural space between the storefront and PS1 Building for artist collaborations, continuing its tradition of producing talk panels and workshops. The earliest photographs of Egypt define a magical moment when the ancient civilization, still half-buried like the Sphinx, began to release its age-old secrets. Aimos joins this historical tradition of photographers drawn to Egypt's mystique. Contemporary Egyptian photographer Nour El Massry notes that "Cairo is a diverse city with different histories and styles: Islamic, Coptic, Italian, British, French. We are living in a museum."
