## The Moment We've Been Waiting For Ye brought out his daughter North West during his historic Mexico City concert at Monumental Plaza de Toros La México on Friday night, marking the 12-year-old's live debut of her provocative new track "Piercing on my Hand." The performance came during Ye's first Mexico City show since his Glow in the Dark Tour in October 2008, adding even more weight to an already monumental night. The two-night run was billed as featuring "one of the most ambitious productions in the venue's history" for a total expected draw of more than 74,000 people. ## From TikTok to the Big Stage North's Mexico debut wasn't exactly a surprise. The track was first previewed on her Instagram Stories in mid-January, with lyrics like "Piercing on my hand, the other holding bands" and "No friends, just filter, you wouldn't understand". The song includes lines about skipping school and getting banned: "Went to school for two days, then I got banned/ Skipping school, yeah, I do it on the daily". Throughout the track, North proves she can shift between flows and ride a particularly frenetic beat, showing that she truly is Ye's daughter. The timing couldn't be more perfect. North kicked off 2026 with some interesting finger piercings, just days after debuting a temporary bridge piercing, black grills and a diamond skull pendant, coupled with her bright blue plaits. ## Building Her Empire This Mexico performance solidifies North's position as more than just a celebrity kid playing dress-up. She's already a Billboard Hot 100-charting artist after guesting on Ye and Ty Dolla $ign's "Talking," which hit No. 30 in 2024. She recently revealed that she produced "Justswagup," a collaboration between Mag!c and Lil Novi, the son of Lil Wayne. She also joined FKA twigs for "Childlike Things," performing in Japanese. North announced she was working on her debut album, titled "Elementary School Dropout," a reference to her father's 2004 record "The College Dropout". That album has yet to be released, but based on this Mexico performance, the wait might be worth it. The kid who was born while "Bohemian Rhapsody" by Queen was played is clearly destined for theatrical moments. Mexico City just witnessed the next chapter of that story.
